Now I'm not up on all the stuff going on with that bike but did I understand that author correctly. Isn't "short shifting thru the gears the same thing that will be available on the FJR AE model. Just "clicking up through the gears". mmmmmmm

yes - but, there's still a manual clutch if you want to use it. This device doesn't touch the clutch, it sends a quick interrupt to the ignition before shifting.

Shortshifting is shifting earlier or at a lower rpm, using the engines low/midrange torque to propel you forward. You also still use a foot shifter, although it works in about the same way as the 1300AE system. If your using a R1's top rpms on the street, then in my opinion you would have quite the set of cajones or be short on mental judgement.
