In only it's 2nd year (2006) , the MLR drew over 400 riders from 26 states for a Moonburger. In 2007, the MLR promises to be even bigger.

Moonshine is great in that it draws primarily sport/tourers -every type you can think of, and very few hardley's. This will be my second trip, and one of the few "don't miss" events of the year.

The website has only been up for a week, (01/18/07) and already 115 riders from 21 states have registered to make the trek. It will easily top 500 this year. Find out why at: https://moonshine-run.com/Moonshine/

That place is about 30 minutes from my house. I tried to find it this past summer. There was a bridge out, and you could not get there by riding on asphalt. So be prepared for gravel roads. Maybe.

The place is a long standing tradition for bikers and car rallies alike. In the middle of nowhere near Casey, IL. The food at Richards is excellent. The Elephant Ears at the MTO (airport) restaurant are a favorite of mine, and I fly there often just for lunch. This would be a fun trip.

I'll run out there and see if the bridge and road is back open. Repairs happen slow around here out in the sticks.

857 miles for a hamburger... Guess I better call ahead so mine will be ready when I arrive!

:)

It would be a good excuse to pay another visit to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum in Dayton. Best use of my tax dollars ever!

Jeff, any distance over 500 miles rates a double cheeseburger, all I've got is just under 200 miles so I only get a single burger.

Concour, Wright-Pat, anyone who hasn't been there needs to go. It is totally awesome.

I have a link to the web site posted in the midwest section regional ride planning, to date 118 riders have signed up and the sites only been up for a week.

Just got back from MOONSHINE.

Place was PACKED. No place to park my tractor...

Roads were in excellent shape, no gravel coming in from Martinsville or exiting to the east. LOTS of slurry seal and loose gravel over nice relatively smooth roads. Bridges were open, but there can be a lot of flooding in that area. If there is a torrential downpour before you get there, expect that a couple ways into Moonshine may be only accessible by submarine. Or just rip back out into the sticks (well, corn actually) and reroute into it another way. Roads are all pretty much E/W, N/S.. so it's not real tough to get around. (although the names on MapSource and actual paper maps are often different.)

If you go out there, there's a chance you may have to park on the road, or in the grass. Either way, bring something for your sidestand just in case.

Using my Rino with MapSource software, the address got me right to the store:

Moonshine Store

6017 E 300th Rd

Martinsville, IL 62442

(618) 569-9200

The store is at the intersection of East 300th Road and North 600th Street. It's on the North East corner. Not that you could miss it, or anything...

You can't miss it, it's the only thing there. :thumbsupsmileyanim:
