Howdy Folks. Highway 50 update. CHP seems to have found some funds ( and trying to generate more) for Laser units. Yesterday morning there were 3 CHP units shooting Laser at Westbound US50 between Scott Road and Sunrise. One in the weeds just West of Scott parked sideways shooting from the drivers seat. One at Prairie City standing outside the car. Third, a motor officer, sideways in the center divide gap between Hazel and Sunrise. All shooting Laser, all lit up my Valentine in the cage. Thankfully I was fairly legal at all three hits. Not used to seeing that much Laser in once place. Be careful !

they were all over I5 a couple of weeks ago also.....
In the Central Valley, Richard?!? Can''t say I've ever seen a CHP ticketing anyone on that long stretch. By damn, though -- that should right the state's budget in no time. Can't image any citation on that stretch of slab that wouldn't be for AT LEAST 20 over.

BTW, for those who don't already know -- DO NOT speed on I-80 around the Dry Creek and Meadow Vista ramps, especially not on weekend afternoons. That's been a high revenue LIDAR fest for a few years now.

There is also Laser on I-80 near Alta. Going west I was painted by Laser right around where Baxter Road meets I-80. 2 CHP units on the overpass painting traffic with Laser in either direction it seemed.

Thanks, Sam -- that's good to know. CHP has a substation close by, just off the Dutch Flat exit, so if they've begun to use that bridge for additional revenue collection efforts, I suspect they'll keep using it. <_<

Not a problem if you ride a DL650...
Hey, HEY - that's not true! May not get to 80 as fast as an FJR, but it'll get there. 'specially if there's a tail wind...
+1

I got a pink performance award on the Wee.

Then again the corrupt SOB who ticketed me shot the gun from a 45MPH side of an intersection into the 55MPH zone (I was clocked at 57).

anybody know of an app for iPhone or Android where you can input known speed traps then have it distributed out to users via some sort of nav software? That seems like it would be pretty powerful.

I know in the last several weeks that the southbound stretch of I680 from Pleasanton to Fremont has been HEAVILY blanketed in black and whites during the morning commute hours. Max I saw was 6 units in a 5 mile stretch including 2 motorcycles and 4 cars, all working in teams identifying and ticketing violators of the diamond/toll lane.

maybe we can balance the state budget this way?

Truckee area also - mostly on the eastbound side in the stretch between 89 North (Exit 188B) and Hirschdale. There is almost always a unit on the on-ramp at the Overland Trail exit running radar and they've been using the LIDAR unit just west of Overland Trail from time to time. I've also seen the LIDAR in use on 89 south of Truckee - it can pop up anywhere and on a two-lane road without much traffic, you are pretty much toast if you're over whatever threshold the officer has decided is worth his/her time. On the freeway, it seems to be around 80.

Of course it's snowing right now, so it's all academic, dammit.

I have painted my headlights on the FJR with veil laser block coating. It's about 80 bucks a can and goes a long way. That's what they are trained to aim at because its reflective. I also run the escort 9500ix detector, no worries. Go to the veil site or any independent test site like radar Roy or u tube and check it out. I haul ass most everywhere, no tickets here. You will know its working when you get hit 2 or 3 times in a row with a few seconds in-between because they are having trouble punching through. Its not illegal to use.
