The new issue of Sport Rider has some blips about the new Yamaha models and offers a picture and 1/3 page of text on the 2006 FJR1300 E. I won't rehash all the "known" info (push button electronic transmission, adjustable bars, adjustable seat, 12v outlet, etc..) However, there was some info that I had not yet seen posted here. Sport Rider claims adjustable fairing visors, redesigned rear subframe that eases centerstand deployment, revamped saddlebag mounting, 2.7 % increase in shaft drive secondary gear, real time and average fuel mileage display, outside temperature display, and manual headlight beam adjuster.

If these have already been reported and I just missed, then my apologies for the duplicate info.

I guess some folks here are getting tired of all the hype over the new FJR.

'BOUNCE" (Mark Johnson) was kind enough to leave us a link to a really good powerpoint production on the 06 at "Bikes-n-Spikes".

I surely understand the passion all the owners feel about the FJRs they now own and ride but for us guys who have yet to be owners we are hungry for all the info we can get about any and all years of the FJR.

These must be truly wonderful bikes because so few owners are willing to give theirs up to the used bike hunters and I have never seen one for sale in any local market place in my area. I've never even seen one on the street here yet.

I am both hopeful and very excited about the new FJR as are many others here I'm sure and we want our chance to get the great experience you owners already have.

Thanks to all who have commented one way or another about the 06.

OK, if I didn't already have one I would have no problem buying an '06. There do seem to be some nice new features. I like some things about it and dislike others. However, there is nothing especially good about the '06 to entice me to trade in my '05. I think most of us feel the same way and that is why some are tired of hearing about the 'new' one. Personally, I enjoy reading about it and look forward to reading some ride reports as soon as they start delivering them.

I wish the new people and all on this board would at least put what state they live in so someone may be able to help them locate a bike to look at or test ride whatever but with BLANK PROPFILES no can do.

That's a good idea!

I did include my location in my new member intro but it was an oversite on my part not to include it with my profile.

Then again, I guess I never thought about a current owner actually slowing down long enough to show his or her bike off to an interested hopeful.

...and GEEZER I don't blame you a bit. If I had a new 05 or even earlier model I'd ride...ride...ride. You couldn't get the smile off my face for years!

Just finished the read of the "brochure" that explains the rationale why everyone who already has a Feejer should buy the 2006 model.

One thing that happened while checking it out was upon seeing the fairing air vents on the sides, I remembered that my 1983 Vision had the same feature.

I liked the way that I could get some cooler air in the hot Texas summer and warmer in the winter.

hard to believe that it took so long to add the feature to the Feejer, which almost rhymes.

I still don't know it it matches a personally farkled 2005 or prior year model. But of course the gauges/displays are unique and probably will not be reverse-compatible even if someone had the greenbacks to burn (oops, I mean "invest".)

What, Feejer owners have bucks to burn on bikes ?

I hear the '06 also has a digital gear readout. Unfortunatley it only counts to 5 ....because 6 in the Japanese alphabet looks like this :****:

Wow, I was looking at the power point and they have the heat shield covering just the throttle body area, just like I did, and the have more air going under the tank just like my snorkle mod does. And the counter progressive throttle pully is something I've been thinking about how to implement on my bike. So when you turn the throttle, at low openings you would have to turn farther to get the butterfiles to open smoothing that off-on transition.

The directional flow out of the radiator could be accomplished with louvers on the back side of the radiator, and I don't know why nobody thought of that before. But the handlebars don't look like they can be lowered.

Gee what's an 03s trade in value? naaahhh. It will be more fun cobbling these mods to the "old" model.

They put the power outlet inside the glovebox?! Boy, those marketing wizzes at Yami are amazingly amazing. <_<
Not just the marketing guys, but the engineers, the warranty people, etc.

It almost makes sure that there is no water that goes into the socket, and possibly shorts something out.

It's vertical so liquid couldn't pool into it like some of the other third party sockets you see for the dash area.

They also made it damn near impossible to close the lid with something connected to the outlet like your radar detector, not real bright??
