Hi all. About two weeks ago, my 15 year old daughter and 13 year old son told me they wanted to do something for their mother on mother's day. Basically bake a cake and clean the house. I was to be the distraction - take her out for the day, and then surprise her when we got back.
Well, here's how the plan turned out. Basically, everything went as planned, with the exception of me falling off the bike at some point in the trip....
Anyway, enjoy the RR.
Started the day quite early. Headed for this rest stop for breakfast and refuel.
As you can see in the background, this is a very popular RV point for weekend bikers. Ferrari owners too. Although you don't see them in this pic, there were 5 or 6 Ferrari's just off the pic, to the right.
Our day trip took us all the way to the east coast along this river - Sungai Pahang, the longest river in the peninsula.
Sometimes the road felt really narrow because the trees were so close to the shoulder..
We took a breather at this bridge...
This stretch of road was really awesome. You can't really see it but the incline is reaaaaally severe.
So this is where the trouble started. Told the wife I wanted a picture here. I dropped her off, gave her the camera and made a full lock u-turn on the steep incline. This is basically the case where I tried to pull off a maneuver that my talent couldn't handle. Made it halfway through the turn before I realized how really steep the slope is. Faltered on the throttle and down went the bike, on its right side. I fell on my right and rolled over my back in a reverse summersault but fully on the ground fashion - or at least that's how it felt.
Bike has scratches on the right hand pannier and side mirror but the slider took the brunt of the fall. And so did my Schuberth C3. I'm actually more upset that my matt black C3 has deep scratches than I am of the scratches on the FJR...
Anyway, this was the picture that I wanted. After the drop, we picked the bike back up and I made my run and the SO took the shots..
After that incident packed photo session, we continued for a bit before arriving at the coastal city of Kuantan.
We headed for the beach where we had lunch here..
Price of lunch sets. USD 1 = RM 3.
The waitress was kinda cute... that's what my SO said, so I took her picture.
We ordered squid....
And this is how it's grilled
serving is simple, as you can see below. But the food is tasty.
We took a stroll along the beach after lunch
This place is quite popular among newlyweds and lovers
There were a few monkeys too hanging around along the beach..
And then, of course, there was me monkeying around...
A few of the SO enjoying the stroll...
After a bit, we agreed we needed to start the 3 hour ride head home so that we could get back before dark. Along the way, we took a breather and I did this self portrait...
We finally reached home and my daughter took this shot...
And then they brought out the surprise..
The 5 of us in a family portrait - yes, the cat is family
That's the end of the RR. Hope you enjoyed it and as always, thanks for taking the time to look at the pics.
