What a cracker of a race. Stoner checks out before crashing out. Damn I wish Nicki could have held onto 3rd.

Spies! What a stud, 5th in his first race on a semi non factory ride.

Whats with speed tv and their commentary? I know they are trying to inform new race fans but no podium speeches, bummer.

Americans 4th & 5th. Cool

Never did see what happened to Stoner. Looked like a low-side as they picked him up running for the bike in the gravel. It was good to see the Honda get to the line in 3rd.

Good race.

Enjoyed the race (but being Aussie felt bummed about Casey going down - seems he just lost the front end). Best ride from Nicky for quite a while, and I'm sorry he missed out on 3rd - he was all over Dovi round the back but just couldn't get the drive onto the straight consistently, and was run down every time he led into the straight.

The reason they didn't get the podium speeches on Speed TV is that Rossi's bike ran out of gas just after he got out a ways on his victory lap. They had to come and get the bike in a pickup truck, and then Rossi and the bike got ferried back to park fermez, but they weren't back until after Speed TV had cut their coverage.

I don't know who is responsible for deciding how much gas to put into Rossi's bike, but that was close.

A great opening to the season! Hopefully this means that Nicky's back! And it's gonna be great following Spies. Fifth on his first race, and closing! And what's up with Dani taking the lead and then being passed by everyone except the pace car?

The fuel management programs are pretty sophisticated, and they have logic to avoid running out of gas. It has happened though.

Regarding Pedrosa's fading away, I was surprised to see that too. His launch was incredible again. He is certainly a master of the start. His weight gives him a natural advantage. I would like to see them force the light riders to carry ballast, like jockeys. Nevertheless, he got picked off, each rider in turn going on through. Sort of like the reverse of Lorenzo.

Speed did show him on the bike in the back of a pickup. I was thinking "Whats up with that"? Thanks for the info.

Just got around to watching my recordings, so I can play in this thread, now that we're nearly halfway to the next race.

Is it me or do the Moto2 bikes seem to be not well planted? I seem to have noticed an awful lot of "moments" during that race. I'm not talking about the crash in turn 2, although one of those guys was trying to ride out of a really bad wobble when he collected the other bike. Anyway, seemed to be a lot of letting go at either end of several bikes during the race. Awesome to see how big a field it was, though!!!!

I thought the weakness in Moto2 was the riders. The same guys who couldn't control 240 hp are now demonstrating that they can't control 140 hp either. DeAngelis reminded me of last year's race in MotoGP when he took Hayden out at the start of the race.... I think it was at Mugello. Hayden said "I was minding my own business and all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I see this fruity helmet coming at me." Well, there was that fruity helmet again. Lucky Nicky wasn't the recipient this time.

I watched all the free practices, qualifying, and the race. I probably won't watch it again. I wonder how a CBR600RR or an R6, or a GXS-R 600 would do in that pack. That would be interesting. The bikes are not anything available to buy, and yet their not anything pushing the state of the art in any area either. Except for its utility as a developmental activity for future MotoGP riders, Moto2 strikes me as sort of pointless... Homologation rules always PI** me off. You've got one engine supplier, one tyre supplier, and like maybe 13 chassis suppliers. I dunno...

I really like the premiere class. I just don't seem to be able to get excited about the lower classes.

I thought it was good racing, lots of exchanges of position, especially with 3 or 4 pairs of riders squared off against each other. My comparison was to the 250s, it seemed the Moto2s were a little more squirelly.

Still haven't watched the 125s yet. I always get a kick out of the little bikes, drafting down the long straights and screwing up the braking points. Maybe tonight I'll finally get caught up.
