From the San Luis Obispo (California) Tribune. I'm not sure I would have been a nice as
Mr. Sleeper under the cirumstances.
A man who reportedly tried to confront a motorcyclist by wielding an ax suffered serious
injuries after the motorcycle struck him Sunday on Hog Canyon Road near San Miguel,
according to the county Sheriff's Department.
Officials said Aldrich Ross Peck, 48, of Shandon stood in the center of the road and
attempted to assault passing motorcyclist Ronald Leroy Sleeper, 48, of San Miguel with
a long-handled ax.
Sleeper failed to swerve around Peck and his motorcycle struck Peck, hurling him into
a nearby ditch, officials said. Sleeper, who was thrown from the motorcycle after the
collision, aided Peck after disarming him of the ax and then called authorities for
help, officials said.
Peck suffered serious injuries to his pelvis and head and was taken to Twin Cities
Community Hospital, officials said. He was then transferred to Stanford Hospital for
further treatment.
Sleeper sought medical attention on his own, officials reported.
Sheriff's officials said they will continue an investigation and expect to arrest Peck
on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
