OK here goes

I just bought a stem nut & mounting GPS parts (from unmentioned guy) to mount onto my 07 FJR. Now i would like to know is what should i use for the power cord (came with power cord with speaker for plug into cig lighter) & would like to use some kind of plug to power up the GPS & also would like to know if i could just buy some kind of ear buds or something to listen to the directions when running a downloaded route so i don`t have to look down or over to go turn by turn. (was thinking of somekind of BMW plug near battery for power hook up)

Thanks Gerard

You can get a whole mounting kit like this on eBay, it contains a mount (which you don't need) and a power/audio cable.

From the Garmin web site:

Motorcycle power/audio cable (Replacement)

Part Number: 010-10495-02

Suggested Retail Price: $ 34.98 USD

Thanks guys & will check it out. Still got to figure out the earphone thing.
Is the GPS bluetooth ready ???

if so, get a Cardo Scaler Rider (ebay or whitehorse press - https://www.whitehorsepress.com or a Motorola 830 headset like I did

If not, does the output of the GPS a 3.5mm female like a MP3 uses

then get this $35 - https://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_inf...roducts_id=4987

https://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=IMC%2DHS%2D200U

like I did.

Just my 1.5 cents and hope this helps,

Mike in Nawlins'

Run the thing into an Autocom tankbag setup, available custom-designed and ready made from Keith Goudelock at Tulsa Truck Center (918.446.2245). Don't you want audio in for the MP3, XM radio, and maybe even a future radar detector? Keith can even install the speakers into your helmet for you. I'm jus' sayin'....

Why not just plug into the cig. lighter socket in your glove box. Thats what I did and when I remove the GPS I just leave the cord there. There is a hole in the bottom of the glove box with a grommet in it, just remove the grommet , make a cut in it and then install on your power cord and then re-install the grommet.

Works for me.

I currently use the exact same setup. I did use the Garmin mount on a short ram to the stem nut.
+1

I got my cord just as cheap from Darrell at TVNav.com. Garmin also sells the motorcycle cord without the mount, and I think TVNav stocks them, too. I recommend Darrell. He knows GPS's, and he'll take good care of you whether your purchase is little or big. Standard disclaimers: my only affiliation is as a satisfied customer.
