I'm looking for the name of a film that I saw quite a few years ago. Namely, as a kid.

The general plot is the same as any good old B-grade horror film featuring some featuring ants. People are trying to escape a wave of ants coming at them. The ants stop at practically nothing and devour everything in their path. I only remember seeing the end of the film but wouldn't mind seeing the entire film, and want to buy it because my ex-housemate and I are practically the only two people who have seen it out of our friends (but neither of us can remember what the title was).

Things that stand out:

- The ants were normal sized, so you can exclude any giant mutant ant films

- The ants used leaves as boats to cross a moat dug to stop the ants

- The ants were eventually overcome by blowing a dam.

- The characters were dressed as if it was one of those old-50's movies in Africa. Khaki everything, loose long sleeved shirt, GP boots, etc.

- I remember the film as being black and white, but it might not be.

Keyword search on IMDB didn't yield anything:

https://www.imdb.com/keyword/ants/ant-attack/

I thought it might have been Marabunta but that's too recent, or Phase IV (colour). Shy of sitting down with a bunch of really, really bad movies and watching them one by one, does anyone here know what the film is?

Shit! I remember watching that. I don't remember the name, though.

Could have been a Tarzan flick...

I remember being forced to read a book to this effect in middle school, but do not recall the name. Is it possible the movie is book-based, and you could cross-reference there?

I clearly remember seeing that movie, but I can't for the life of me remember the title :(

I remember seeing it too.

"Them!" was the giant ants in the sewers of LA.

"The Naked Jungle" was a Heston movie from the 50s where they lost everything to an attack of army ants.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047264/

Scag beat me to it 'cause I had to make the reference to "Them!" (dammit)

ScaB, dammit. I have been called a skank, but I ain't no Scag.

Does sound like that. It was most likely one of those sunday flicks, so given it's Heston it does sound about right - he's the sort of actor that usually features in a Sunday matinee. Maybe my guess of "The Naked Jungle" was right (although it was a sketchy guess, at best). I guess the only way to find out is to go hire it from the video shop for $2...

Thanks everyone!

Is it the one where they send a guy for help on a fast horse, but of course he has to ride through the ants so they wrap parafin soaked rags round the horse's feet....he doesn't make it as far as I can remember....going back best part of 40 years if it's the one. Funny what sticks in your mind eh? Now what did I come in the room for?

It's funny that you remember it being in black and white. I did too. It was actually filmed in Technicolor. Like me, you probably first saw it as a kid on a black and white TV.

I'm not that old -_- I was only born in '84. It's interesting to see that some of the photos are shown in black and white, despite it being a Technicolor photo.
