Hi im Joe. Athens Ala owner of a 2005. It has been a while since I have been to the top of Cheeha Mt. Would any of you Tenn , Ala , Ga, owners like to meet and have a cookout? There are some nice campsites there. The roads are great. Im just in the mood to socialize with friends.

Hey Joe,

Tell me more about the location always looking for a new and interesting destination. I'm from Nashville TN, how many miles to Cheeha MT? What city is it close to on the map, I'll look it up.

Thanks much

Terry

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd drop a line. I'm pretty much between Athens and Mt. Cheaha. It is a fun ride up the mountain. Haven't been on the FJR yet but went many times on my former Triumph rides.

Let me know if you you want to go sometime or anywhere in the North Alabama, East Tennessee, etc. areas for that matter.

Jay

:D

Not sure how I missed this thread until now... I'm in Birmingham and wouldn't mind a ride to Cheeha. We're usually at the lake on the week-ends, but let me know anyway... if I'm here, I'll go.

Hi Joe,

I'm in Jacksonville, FL and would join riders for a run back up to Cheeha. Keep posting and let me know.

Have you guys picked a date yet? If i'm in town count me in as well.

Thanks,

Alright, just found this thread. Heck, I live there. I can be at the top in less than 15 min. FJRfencer has come over twice to do the mount. (last time, he got us drowned in a huricane)

And Joe, my appologies. You had emailed me some time back and I went ape-crap and had the admins checking you out like you were a terroist threat or something. (Prior, the only thing I had received was PM's, so naturally, the email looked different. I freaked, thought the forum had been hacked again.) Then, computer crashed out and sent me into forum exile.

Anyway, I think they have since cancelled the video surveylance and wire taps. If you don't count me a total schmuck, I'm in.

I missed out on a planned ride last weekend and have a bad need to do one this weekend.

How about Saturday? I'm not going to spend the night or cook weenies or anything but I'll stop and drink a soda with you here and there.

jwilly - I'm in Smyrna. We should hook up for the ride out there.

Saturday Aug 12?

I'm not going to be at the lake this weekend for a change, heading out Sunday early to catch a flight for my son's wedding on the outer banks, North Carolina, next week. So... I can do a ride this Saturday. Though I've never ridden Cheeha, I'd love to... especially following Scab or someone who knows the road. So Wally, I'm in... Scab? Fencer? Motorswatcop? Joe? Terry? Et al? I'm in Hoover, AL (just south of Birmingham).

Edit to add:

If nothing else Joe and Wally P... we can ride Hwy. 25 and some other fun roads in this area Saturday. Lemme know.

Oh, yeah, I'm in. We can hook up in oxford. Somewhere like CrackerBarrel, just off the interstate. Just say when. Should we PM everyone?

Sure, why not. Scattered thunderstorms are predicted... is that a tradition or something? While I take rain for granted while commuting, I'm not sure I'd set out in a torrential downpour for a day ride. Let's keep an eye on the weather.

Ooops.

SO has a plan for me on Saturday morning (a good one) so I need to do this on Sunday or plan a different weekend.

Sorry guys.

I could do Sunday. I'm easy. I guess we should check the weather predictions.

...going to check.

...I'm back. According to weather.com, we have thunderstorms Saturday with Sunday being partly cloudy with only a 20% chance of the wet stuff.

And only 82!!

B)

OK. Lets pick a rendezvous spot and time.

jwilly? You in. Want to meet somewhere in the western burbs for the ride out there.

Alright, Sunday, Quintard Mall, side parking lot, JCPenney. Easy to find, at the intersection of Hwy. 21 and Hwy. 78. Also, just off I-20. From Birmingham, first Oxford exit, then left, Mall on right. From Atlanta, next exit past Cracker Barrel, then right, Mall on right.

10:00 A.M. ???

It looks if its changed to Sun I should be able to go.

Sat. is a no way as my wifes grandad has a date with the earth and the creatures that reside there. Family calls.

Anyone from Bham want to hook-up to ride over? PM me.

Oh, and Wally, don't slow us down as this is for the faster BLUE ones :p
