Happened across a Hayabusa with D & D mufflers yesterday. sounded

great, restrained, deep, pretty much the sound I'm looking for for my

'05 FJR. Anyone able to comment on these? They appear not to have a

website. I did catch a rumble on the FJR Owners Ass. that they may have

early rust issues?

Another issue is the extension pipes from the headers to the mufflers.

Built-in on the stock cans, I see that several manufacturers provide

these extension tubes with their mufflers (Holeshot, Staintune,

Blueflame) but do not appear to sell them separately, making it harder

to spec another aftermarket silencer. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I personally get no help at all from the demo mp3 clips provided

variously. Re the Dale Walker Holeshots, there are strong claims on his

website regarding HP improvements, but the mufflers appear smaller in

diameter than any others, and I am afraid that a pipe-sized

straight-thru passage, surrounded by fiberglass dampening would prove

too loud for my tastes. The same with Two Bros-I own them and, while

fun on my SuperHawk V-twin sportbike, they would be far too loud for

touring.

I like the idea of buying domestic, for price and because I don't

believe anyone outside the US has better research or engineering

facilities. Would appreciate any feedback on these issues, winter draws

nigh.

The best "muffaletta" on the planet is from Central Grocery in New Orleans. I'm not sure but I think they go for about $8.00.

I've heard D&Ds on other bikes, and they tend to be rather loud. I still like 'em, though. I'm a Holeshots guy myself. Great pipe, just the right sound I was looking for. Black finish for me. Either way, you'll be happy. The Staintunes have a loyal following, too. If I had my choice, I'd go with the single-side Akropovik, but I'm too tight to drop that much cash on another exhaust system.

I too like muffalotta. Oh wait that's probably not what you mean now that I've read the other posts. JB ;)

What do you guys think about the Two Brothers C2 exhaust cans? The D&D's were too loud, so I am looking for a deeper, throatier sound.
