I like to listen to classic rock and some newer stuff when I ride. Give me any

Van Halen; ACDC; Stones; the great Zepplin; Aerosmith; Metallica; even some Staind and I'm off and running.

What do you listen to? :agent:

No music. I listen to the engine and tio the strange person inside my head..... Hmmm, maybe some music would be helpful there.... but No.

Depends on the mood I'm in. Just about everything other than gospel/religious tunes, there isn't much I don't listen to. I tend to listen to a lot of obscure stuff that many people haven't heard of.

www.audible.com. I listen to books on the commute. Right now I am on the last book of the Stephen King Dark Tower series. Music tends to propel me at velocitites the local LEO's do not appreciate much.

Depends on my mood but:

#1 Country Music (Real Country Hank Williams, Hank Snow, Farren Young, Sons of the Pioneers, ect... Notthis stuff they call country nowadays) which is also the #1 reason I got XM, there are no country stations in LA! XM channel 13.

#2 Classic Rock, XM channel 46.

#3 Radio Dramas, XM 163 & 164.

#4 What ever else I may be in the mood for.

No music on the bike. Like Geezer I like to hear bike. The tunes belong in the cage along with my air guitar and drums. So in the car I'll jam with Hank III, Wayne the Train Handcock, Richmond Fontaine, Old 97s, Link Wray, BR549 and if I up for some horns the Rebirth Brass Band.

i suspect i might be lining myself up to look like an *****, but how do you listen to tunes while doing long distance?

I tend to wear earplugs for anything where i'm going over 60 for more than a few minutes. i have a few helmets, and don't find any of them particularly quieter than the other at higher speeds.

special head phones/helmets? the ear-bud ones that go into the ear canal a bit (and lowers ambient noise, at least on planes and next to crying children)?

as far as what i would listen to.... i tend to get into Dream Theater and their various side projects. some electronica and then people like weezer and placebo and other odd-rock type guys.

I use ear plugs. I can still hear the helmet speakers with ear plugs in.

There are a couple popular types of speakers. There's the in helmet speakers, and then the in the ear speakers. I personally have the in helmets speakers with microphone, as I have a Starcom system to talk to wifey with. It will also do 2 way radio, radar, gps, music, and cell phone. Now for the real question. Most anything will do while superslabbing. But in the tight twisties, it's gotta be HEAVY!! Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, Ramstein, Disturbed, etc. Most of these got a great beat, real gets you into a groove. Now, mind you I still wear my earplugs. I can turn the music up, but can't turn the wind noise and eventual ring in my ears down!

On the bike I don't listen to anything and don't want to. I use the time riding to clear my head of everything except riding and avoiding everybody actively trying to kill me.

I do like Zepplin (have the boxed set) Little feat old classics and lately adult intrumental better known as smooth jazz

I can enjoy just about anything other than hip hop

I listen to the music of tires on asphalt and concrete. Wind provides the treble, rumbling trucks provide the bass. The engine and tranny provide my rythm section. Sometimes I hear kids laughing in yards nearby, or the sound of airplanes flying over. Occasionally, one or two of the spare personalities I have rattling around the belfry begin their own consversations. I usually stay out of 'em - it's better to just listen. (Sometimes you can learn things by listening... ) :blink:

If I'm in a mood to rip up the road, then it's Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, or maybe some old Kansas or Def Leppard. If I just want something to sooth the soul, then Acoustic Alchemy, or the Rippingtons work well... something instrumental I don't have to give any mental energy to listening to words... just sounds. Then there's times that quiet is the best alternative... the situation varies from time to time.
