ok,got up at 3am,put on the cold weather gear and headed to the local gas station to fill up and get the 1st gas reciept of many.

me and no one else that early

hit the road,no heated gear but got alittle chilly when the temp hit a low of 29 ( in california thats fkn cold ).stopped at the calif/arizona border which is seperated by the colorado river where 6 months prior we were on the boat in 110 degrees.sun was trying to rise.

planned the time leaving so i would hit flagstaff when the sun was trying to heat the earth.i said try.

my turn around point was a place called Adamana Ariz,a huge underground natural gas storage where they load high pressure rail cars,i had some repairs on this car.

this was where i got my reciept for gas for the turnaround point.2 of my new friends.

not alot of pics cuz you just wanna put miles under ya,overall it was pretty easy actually.if it was warm coulda done 1500 miles easy.i had my gear,my xm thru the autocom,phone thru the autocom and the 8500 passport which saved my ass 3 or 4 times and my best friend my smitty installed cruise control.

now to fill out the paperwork and send it off.final numbers where,

miles on zumo 1110

miles of fjr speedo 1134

total time 17 hours start to finish

29 degrees and no heated gear...no heated vest, no heated gloves, no heated grips....Really Nice.

What was your defense against the cold weather?

balls of steel(jk),i had some thermal undies,riding suit,and thats about it.average temp was around 40 most of the trip.i guess im ready for death valley now.

It's all the super-cool and totally funky-groovy peeps you met out on the road and took piccys of. :unsure:

Sometimes, all you needs for a great ride is you (and yer bike)! :thumbsup:
