Hi all; had an experience i thought worthy enough to share.

In December last year I sold my perfectly running 07 FJR with 33K miles and picked up a 2010 with just 2300 miles on it at a crazy great price. I figured itd be nice to have such a low mile bike with less potential issues and there really aren't any. However when I picked it up I felt it ran rougher then my 07 but got it home and it sat in the garage all winter.

Now the season began here and this buzz and vibration was way worse then I could remember. I knew it was an engine buzz and knew the first thing to check was Throttle body sync but at 2300 miles?? could be.

and here it was, way off:

I had always followed the Really, Definitely, Completely Un-Authorized sync method on my 07 and did it again on my 2010:

Amazing difference. This picture is at idle. Its pretty close all the way up the RPM scale too.

On a test ride, the vibration is gone, idle is smooth, blip the throttle and its sharp.

So a TBS at 2300 miles? I have no idea why it was so off but it demonstrates the value of checking if your suspicious of how your bikes behaving!

Sounds like the previous owner tried to do the TBS and failed.

Perhaps you should go over the whole bike in case there's something else he phoo-barred.

:) . Possible but I don't think so. The thing only had 2300 miles on it, he never had time for it, doubt he wrenched anything in this one and it looked like no ones ever been under the tank. Blue marks on every bolt head, the heat shield looked like new. ... But yep, been checking everything anyway.

iirc, a 'standard' TBS is part of the initial maintenance at 600 mi, and henceforth on a similar schedule to oil changes.

Whoa, I guess I should go back and look at the schedule.! thx

Ya, I lost the bag screws on my 07. Got that covered this time :)

The FSM refers to it as:

(Item) 5 * Fuel injection • Check and adjust engine idle speed and synchronization
The schedule is given on pg 3-1, in the Periodic Maintenance section.

I don't follow the schedule, and only check it at about every second oil change.

Since doing the RDCUTBS, it doesn't seem to go out of sync a great amount.

When I did my 1st service on my 2014 ES at approx. 1800 kms (not miles for us Canucks), my throttle bodies were out. So, I am not surprised by your post.
