Just got my bike back from the 76k miles service, new tires pr2s, new brakes front and rear, new fluid everywhere, replaced cct, installed bodies ground spider harness, new irridium plugs, new headlights and some $1400 dollars later the bike runs great. Spiders still looked good so not sure that needed to be done and it was expensive but oh well. Plugs still looked good too after 30k miles, also irridium. Now it might be time to plan that ride to Alaska next June. I really question the wisdom of 26k valve checks. Mine have been checked at 26k intervals and have yet to be adjusted, so there is almost 1000 dollars just in checking the valves. also the irridium plugs appear to be good for almost 50k miles.

Although the FJR has proven to be a reliable platform, why risk a burnt valve? With the detailed tech information we have here, checking the valves isn't that difficult even with average mechanical skills. Now granted, once you're past the initial 26K check, the odds are with you that the valves will be stable for a long time. But there's always that odd exception...

Here's to the next 26K... :drinks:

I never used Grannys. Heard too many bad things about them before and I don't know how they are now. I used to use Precision but had a major bad experience and was extremely disappointed in how Ron handled it. I had Dave from Cycle genics do the work. 941 809 1234. He is on East Ave in Sara. Bike runs like a dream. I also use Scott, alien for the tires. Both are extremely conscientious. Dave was very fair in his pricing and with the 76k service and all the other side stuff I was very pleased. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

'double all the recommended inspection intervals, but change oil frequently' is my new motto - based on experience.

How many have different results?
