So, I don't post as much as some, but this is something very sad for me, so it feels cathartic to post this.

Here is the little guy, who is now dead at about 1.5 years.

His still-living twin is named Michelin.

I am sad.

That's sad dude...what happened?

btw, we have 4 cats at my house (all my daughter's, one's just a little one like your photos). Yeah I know, it's nuts. We got 2 dogs too.

Pets are EXTREMELY hard to let go of once you get attached. I've had to put a couple down in my day, and it's like losing a family member. You have my simpathies and condolences.

Mike

It is tough. I had to have one of my horses put down once and it was not a good day. Had to have a back hoe dig a grave and then shove him in with my tractor and bury him after the vet put him down.

They are so dependent upon us and its like we let them down.

Chester

Sorry to hear of your loss, pet's become part of the family for sure. We have 2 kitties, one used to hang out at our shop so we brought him home, and he is one serious hunting kitty, you name it and he's caught it. The other one we got from the local pound and she settled in our home in all of about 10 minutes. They have been best buddies ever since.

It is always hard to lose a pet. I have three dogs and they are very much a part of the family. Now that the kids are grown and gone even more so.

have had many dogs, cats and birds over the years and have hated to see every one go.

Awwwww, feel better soon, Shane. Deepest kitty condolences. :(

My wife never met a stray she couldn't keep. (or wouldn't?)

When their numbers around our place dwindle, she goes to the pound and rescues more of the unloved ones. Pet's are good. I just hate that word. There should be a better word than that for what they bring to a family.

We feel for ya.

Shane,

Sorry to hear about Metz. We have 3 cats and a dog. 3 years ago I had to put down one of my cats, had her since 1991 and she looked like Metz. The remaining 3 are 13, 14 & 15 years old, though they don't act like it.

Two years ago the wife had to put down her last dog. He didn't like the cats as companions but he did like them as chew toys. Had to keep them seperated. Current dog could care less about the cats, they get along.

It was hard for both of us when we had to put them down, felt like we lost a piece of us. It also felt like we let them down.

Thanks for the kind words all,

He had a chronic urinary thing that got real bad, so a tough decision had to be made.

The pictures were taken last year.

Big personality, lots of energy, and full of attitude, just the way I like them.

We still have two cats, and they are both more mellow. Hobbes (age 12) and the other twin, Michelin.

Thanks again, this has helped.

Shane

Sorry to hear about your cat Shane. We have a Cairne Terrier (like Toto) that's been a member of the family for 14 years. I'm going to be one depressed dude when he goes.

I feel your pain. We used to raise Huskies & Malamutes. We lost two girls in two days from age related problems. TJ

I would still "see" our 17 year old black cat around the house for over a year after she was gone. I still find myself occasionally thinking she's around 5 years later. Good luck with the other one.

pets are a funny think.

they fill a void in your life that you never knew was there.

Word.

I **** my pants when the ex's divorce papers arrived; among other things of feminine insanity, her 'requests' included my best friend, Casey, a brilliant and handsome Border Collie. ***** actually took my dog away from me then moved backed to Connecticut, prolly just so I couldn't visit the little guy.

Shane,

I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I had a dog. He wasn't very nice to anyone. He loved me, and I took him everywhere with me (even to work every day). I didn’t always want to take him but he made me feel sooo guilty. Work was a problem because he would lay there real nice, then try to bite anyone that tried to pet him. Anytime a stranger would walk in I ran inside and yelled "don't pet the dog!" I couldn’t ride my motorcycle to work because I hadn’t worked out a way for him to ride in a take bag yet. He was only 6 pounds. He really was my girlfriend’s dog. We came upon him when I was 26. The girlfriend left after a couple years but she left the dog behind. I used to joke with people when they would comment about him and would say “he’s not my dog. I’m just taking care of him until he dies”. Well, I’m going to be 41 this fall and my little sidekick just died Thursday. He was my pal and my problem for many years. I constantly worried about him since he was little and I didn’t even realize how many time a day I would glance to see exactly where he was. I’m having a hard time adjusting. I still see him. The shotgun seat of my truck is empty and I’ll be cleaning off the nose smudges for the last time. This year my last grandparent died. Yes I was sad, but embarrassed to say I wasn’t as heartbroken as I was about my small companion. Shane, I’m not sure want the deal is with pets, maybe because they depend on us, but I understand how bummed you must be.

It really hurts to lose a family member, and they are like family members. :sad2:

Your story makes me want to go give our 2 dogs and 2 cats a hug.

Best Wishes,

Ron
