Well bike in shop now awaiting a cost to repair

JDog

Sorry Jdog, man that absolutely sux, your right, it does not take but just a second for such things to happen. I saw the pic of your bike from the front view pic. #1 posted somewhere, I cant recall where, but it was earlier this week, I did not know at the time it was your ride. Hope the frame is ok, and I am glad most importantly that you were not hurt, in time the bike will be good as new. In the mean time I'm gonna miss your videos, I have enjoyed them. It looked like you had a good line going into the righty. Damn, I feel like sh*t now, lightly jerking your chain on the other board about your lefty's form (crossing the centerline) I'll try to remember your video today on my ride home and see if I can ride a little safer. Good luck w/the bike, hope its back real soon!

Dammit! I watched that 10 times last night and I'm still amazed you walked away unscathed.

Don't forget, my crazy-mad mechanical skillz be waitin'. Just say the word! ;)

Dang, Jdog

Sorry about your get-off. Then again, it could have been a lot worse.

Just imagine the consequences if a car or a truck had been coming around the bend from the opposite direction.

You don't seem to have suffered any major damage beyond the fairings, mirror, saddlebag etc. Even if the front cowling subframe is bent, you're looking at $1500 max.

Yeah, I know you could name me 75 better ways of spending that amount of cash...

Cheer up, pal -- you walked away from it

Stef

Jdog - Holy bugs on the speedo batman! As others have said - glad you are OK; some don't get out as 'lucky'. What a video. You win the award. Get back on the road soon...

Wow, sorry about that get off. NEVER any fun. Ditto on the face shield down comments -- some of those bugs are huge at any speed.

I'd have been afraid to post a video like that if it'd been me . . . but that's because my construction background left me with far better cursing skills. Not that your choice of words is wrong, only that I'd have found a way to string far more together with a number of insults I'd have directed at myself.

Like teerex said, from this monitor, it looks like the damage wasn't as bad as it might have been.

I'm glad you walked away from that one, jdog.

Hopefully, only cosmetic damage to the plastic...a bummer anyway.

Fix the bike and ride on...w/ the visor down.

Um, no where near $1500, Stef. Front and rear sub frames, front and left left side cowlings, left bag and can, left foot peg and slider, left handle bar and controls, wind screen and arms, not to mention the various paint scrapes and scuffs that need painting. Still, we don't know if the frame/forks got tweaked, either.

It wasn't pretty - even after JDog took the Honda polish to it...

Not good to see at all. :( On the bright side, at least you CAN cuss about it.

What is the 30 number on the display? Is that an error code for tipover?

Do you remember how fast you were travelling into the turn?

Damn dude that sucks. Glad you are ok though. But I still remember me saying to my dad "forget about me, I'll grow back together for free, how's my bike???" It hurts to see a bike hurt if you put a bit of your soul into it.

Check on the tip over code.

I was going about 40 MPH and the vid shows him pretty much matching my speed. He got it sliding sideways, which scrubbed off a lot of that speed. Still, it chucked him about another 10 or 12 feet, then over the embankment. Skid marks were maybe 25 or 30 feet, including the side slide. I think, had he a little more road to catch the slide, he'da made it.

Looked like a nice sunny day ride until the bug attack. I assume from his writeup that's TWN in the lead... those your brake lights coming on in the middle of the corner Barney???

Glad to hear you're in decent shape... the bike can be repaired.

Amazed that the camera never went off, and stayed in place (for the most part)....

Another sorry 'bout the accident, glad that ATGATT worked as intended. I hope you are able to get your bike repaired back to a level that is acceptable to you. Is your bike an ABS?

Code 30 is of the few codes that is supposed to make the motorcycle UNABLE TO START; UNABLE TO DRIVE without resetting the code with the RUN switch. Was it? Did you? This is related to another thread which is just beginning to cool off in Technical/Mechanical Problems area.

Again, glad you are OK!

Yup, dems be my brake lights lighting up. That corner is a real bitch and the (rear) brake tap was to settle the rear a bit more just before the corner starts to tighten even more (and I do trail brake from time to time). As I said in my writeup, I seldom get this corner right. It's that much of a bitch.

Scene of the get off. Hwy 33, Ventura County. This doesn't really show how much the corner tightens up or the off camber - must be the angle or sumpin'...

Sorry to hear your bike got damaged. Glad to see you are okay. Thanks for the lesson and wake up call. It could have been any one of us. The bike can be fixed.
