Well, after waiting 20 yrs to go I finally had the time and ability to go. It was a lot different than any airshow I've been to as it was civilian and experimental aircraft based and not on a military base or majority military. It was pretty cool to see so many different types of a/c, some cool some outright weird(to me).

Here is a shot at the front, about 2% of what is on the airfield!

Heres a C-5 from about 200 ft

There were lotsa warbirds there, which was really cool to see. Amazingly well kept and restored

Even Glacier Girl was present, what an amazing story behind her

There were more then just warbirds, such as this amphib from the late 30's era

I love Corsairs too, prettiest plane in the pacific campaign if you ask me

Here's a nice "Loach" and Cobra duo that landed just before I took these pic's. Something for the 'Nam guys

Although the Cobra was based on Isreali squadron I think the front turret is reminiscent of the early AH-1G's, even though I believe it to be an AH-1H, not that good on the foreign Cobra's, besides I love the Whiskey myself

Just as the flight demonstrations were to begin, this happened

It lasted a little longer than anticipated, but after it stopped a few guys flew

And the only military a/c demo was.........................

Was the F22 Raptor there?

I thought that was to demonstrate every day?

I used to go every year - I love that place. It is a clean big-time event without all the drunken ********. Great family event.

Hey eEvil,

Good stuff ... I flew both the Loach and the Cobra my last tour in RVN ... it's good to see nice photos of them. Thanks for the pic's.

After the show we walked a little more, mainly to dry her off

And for me to get about 150 more shots of the a/c I missed before the flights, such as

An A-4B Skyhawk

And

This T-28

This was one of about 10 P-51's that took off as we left

There must've been about 50 of 'em there, all of 'em in great condition. I'll pst some more warbirds as soon as I can link 'em up.

But definitely a good day, even the wife had fun, other than getting poured on. I think she woulda melted in 10 more minutes, but some guys invited us into their tent to get outta the rain. That to me was the main difference, the spectators were either huge air fans or pilots themselves and were nothing but polite and courteous. We were initially weirded out, but polite, because we are used to rude, inconsiderate ******* normally at the airshows we've been to. Eventually, we grew acclimated to it and really enjoyed converastions w/ some of the people. The wife liked it so much she said we gotta go every year.

When I suggested camping there for a day, she said it sounded good to her :yahoo: . I even suggested packing up R1200GS Adv for the trip and she said sure! It may not sound like much to you guys, but after my last MVA, she wasn't even close to enthusiastic about a bike under me, let alone her. So, it seems there is progress after all.

It's there today, tomorrow and saturday w/ flight demo's.

Definitley better w/o the drunks and ********! Maybe next year we'll start a family while camping

took my eldest there about 20 yrs ago, not the show just a walk tru(a walk tru takes all day) We looked at all the aircraft on display, walked the restoration shops on the other side of the runway, and talked to the people putting the old stuff back together, I got her a ride in the M.A.S.H. vintage Bell Bubble Copter. She still talks about that as the best day she ever spent with Dad.

Even if you can't make the airshow Oshkosh needs to be on your to do list.

Thanks for the pic's Evil.

I watched the documentary on Glacier Girl. I thought it was really interesting. We have a great airshow coming to Pope AFB sometimes this fall, can't wait to be around for that, should be a great time.

Thanks for the pics. I used to go to Oshkosh every year. It's a blast! I was lucky enough to be there the year the astronauts who went to the moon made an appearance. It was a long time ago but I think there were 7 or 8. They had a panel discussion. I got to sit in on a lecture about the SR-71 the year the airforce gave the last few operational planes to NASA for research. They declassified a lot about the plane nothing about the missions however. Got to see Chuck Yeager, Frank Borman, Dick and Burt Rutan, and a host of other people. Anyway I envy you! Seeing those photos makes me want to plan a trip next year.
