My 07 has devoloped a intermittient problem. All recalls have been compliled with. The bike has original OEM battery with 29,000 miles. The problem started yesterday. When starting bike warm/cold it starts fine and as soon as you release starter switch it dies. Second attempt no problems. On top of that, I've noticed a "hiccup" from the engine when selecting high beams or turn signals. This is intermittient as well. The bike is not throwing codes and runs perfect otherwise. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. I was thinking battery, but the selling dealer didn't agree.

Thanks again!!

Sounds like you could well be seeing the early stages of a deveoping ground spider problem - you may also need a new battery..

Doubt it's the battery because it would fall on it's face and not start if it was going out. If it fires then there's plenty of juice to run the plugs and computer.

Check your battery connections and make sure things are clean and tight. If you've had a dealer looking at it, I would assume they've already checked, but you never know.

Any funny business with the gauges or turn signal indicators? You may want to start searching out the infamous "ground spider" here in the forums and begin your research...there have been issues with the ground spiders overheating, melting, and failing. There are presently 2 well known member-created solutions of varying degrees - Road Runner's headlight/horn cables (doesn't require too much digging around) and Brodie's harness (a more comprehensive solution). If you do end up with a bonafide spider failure, please report to NHTSA.

I just had the same issue with my 07 this past week. I am taking it in for the ignition switch recall. Hope that fixes it. How do I get a hold of this Brodie harness?

Thanks everyone!

I wasn't leaning towards a spider issue because I had Smitty look them over earlier this year with no issues at that point. After a bit more reading on this fantastic! forum, I think I've been bit!!! The turn signal, highbeam isuues etc. firmed it up for me.

All findings and corrective actions will be well documented and the feds will be informed. A PM will be coming shortly, Brodie.

I guess I need to get cracking on installing my Roadrunner fix kit. There are too many '07's that are getting bit lately.

I might be able to claim the record for the fastest spider bite. Bought my '07 new in Apr/08 and by September the classic symptoms were showing up in my instrument panel.
