It's Saturday and I'm cruising down a two lane highway with a posted speed limit of 55. I'm a little late meeting my wife at home so I speed up just a bit to about 85 when, to my chagrin, I see a CHP running a speed trap ahead of me on the right. I know he has me dead to rights. When I get within about 10 yards of him, I see a hand extend from the window and gives me a "thumbs up" sign as I cruise by. Unbelievable!! Thank you officer friendly.

Maybe your cert is in the mail.

I have no problems with cops. Most of them experience the same frustrations with other drivers as the rest of us do. I've received warnings the past few times I've been stopped and I've responded by doing as requested... slowing down on that particular stretch of road or whatever. Many cops ride as well and understand motorcyclists' point of view.

COME ON....someone's gotta hit this....can't just be me. Oh, wait...I'm the pup. Nevermind.

About a month ago, I got busted going sixty five on a 30 one morning going to work.

Came around a curve, and a block away, there she was, radar in hand.

After she wrote out the ticket (Fine of over $250 + 3 points)

she told me she knew bikes tend to pick up speed faster and then

told me that she didn't have her calibration papers on the "gun"

so she suggested I take it to court.

It was worth it. No points + $150. Whooosh. Got off easy. :yahoo:

More than once, I've been on a 65 mph Interstate going 85 on my way to our local bike

hangout. Sunday morning, listening to the iPod, when all of a sudden an FHP comes up

on my side. I look in and he's giving me a palms down sign to slow a bit. So I give them

thumbs up, slow down to 75 and that's the end of that. Back to my Tunes. :)

And just to ruin this post completely, I'm going to get political:

our governor keeps giving away tax breaks to all the ones who least need it, but

there's never any money to hire more FHP, so each trooper has a huge area to cover

and then, every time they stop to help, or deal with a problem, some ***** will plow

into them and kill them. :angry2:

I'm no great defender, but I'm a teacher, so I know who's at the bottom of the totem pole:

nurses, teachers and cops. We're all just doing our jobs.

Thank you. I'll mosey on now...I have a cow bell here I wanna try...

Dishwashers are at the bottom. That job just plain bites.

When I was in the USAF, there were three occaisions where a highway patrol caught up to me and asked me to slow down and never even thought of writing a ticket.

Now when I see a CHP on the highway, I slow to 75 and they pass me. I've been very lucky so far in the ticket lottery.

In my experience, Cali cops leave baggers alone for the most part. Wish I had my bags on yesterday when I pulled that illegal Uey, right in front of the very nice City of Ventura policeman. Oops.

How's this...

Those God Da#m cops! F*&k'm all! They should give all you LAW breakers a ticket and NEVER think to give you a break.

Feel better now?

I got pulled over for 67 in a 40 two weeks ago.. The State trooper let me go because I was trying to get home ahead of a couple of thunderstorms

One day last week coming to work early morning on a new 4 lane with almost no traffic a Mustang GT comes flying up beside me and matches my speed. He looks over a floors it with a stupid grin on his face. I know the road and with no traffic around I do what any FJR rider would do. I lower my windscreen, down shift to 3rd and nail it. I passed the mustang at about 130 when I notice a car on the other side of the road about a quarter mile ahead. Still busy watching the road and fool in the Mustang I didn't back at the other car until almost on him. Yep, right there was Florida's best with radar gun in hand shooting down range...IN THE OTHER DIRECTION! Talk about lucky. Those brakes work really well B)

You get one a year. Yer done.

Isn't it funny when the fast and furious kids or the dealer made sport/muscle car drivers think they can take a high performance bike.

I usually buckle over and slap my knee when they vroom vroom.

It gives them something to brag and lie about at the coffee shop when they are measuring each others dicks.
