Since I'll be on the move soon, I got a new 1300 to take care of my family while I am away...

Now I just have to get the wife to the range and teach her how to use it.

Just, Schuck it, they will run, nothing sounds quite a scarey as a round being pumped into the chamber of a 12 gauge.

By all means get your wife to the range & totallyfamiliar with that weapon, very dangerous thing there.

Don't low side this one!

Good choice for home defense.

Hope it gets dusty and rusty and never sees action!

Very nice. The hard part is keeping it within easy reach if you should need it. Some very good defensive loads out there.

Bill

If Atzlan gets out of hand any home in key areas without one is going to be in a world of hurt. TJ :p

If your serious about having it as a home defense system while your out, you might want to look into signing up your wife for some self defense classes and firearms classes. Caswells in Mesa isnt that far, and they offer alot of classes. I dont think they do rifles/shotguns, but still good instructors and classes. I took my CCW class there.

Prefer the old 870 but they probably look very similar to the criminal breaking into your home at 04:30 Hrs...

Reduced recoil #4 Buck for personal defense would be my humble sugestion. Oh yeah, get a mounted white light source for it as well!

John.

If, I may suggest keep the 1300, but add Brinks Home Security,or ADT.

talk to them about you empending move, I'm sure they will work with you on transferring service to a new home.

Good choice. Also, for those that may be considering the Winchester 1300 Defender it also comes in 20 gauge for those that want less recoil.

Ditto on bluewing with the 20 ga. Still makes the right noise, a big hole and substanially less recoil for a smaller person (read, lady). It is very important to learn how to use the weapon correctly and feel halfway ready when she picks it up and the lesser recoil of the 20 ga. makes it much more acceptable. Practising once and then storing in the closet for a long time is also not so great. You must go out and practise wit it every so often to remember its weight and feel and action.

Still have to prepare her for the mental strength (or rage) to use it when necessary. This may the hardest part for many folks, but critical, because you don't want the weapon used against you.
