I pulled my fairing off and rebuilt the windshield mech.,and put self cancelling turn signal electrics on at the same time. When I got everything buttoned back up,I had 2 of these left. they look just like the buttonheads that are on the painted parts of the bike ,with the exception that these two have a non threaded shoulder on them under the head, where the others are threaded all the way. I have taken some tank brackets apart from the big tanks I build,on the bench, and maybe these where laying there all the time. I have searched exploded schematic views on OEM parts sites ,and the serv. man. is worthless as far as detailed pics go,so I thought there might be someone who has had recent dealings with 2 shoulded button head bolts on their bike. let me know. thanks

I'll second that.

Those bolts are only used in three places on the bike. One is the front side covers and the other two locations are at the rear cowling.

Can't tell the size, but the lower fairings use shouldered bolts, the two that are not at the top, going into the upper fairing.

these are the same size as the upper (3) lowers bolts . The ones at the bottom sides are a larger bolt

Rear Cowling? where exactly? I will check # 5 Bolts ,but I think they are there. I went for a test ride and nothing flew off so with or without these bolts, this bike and I will be on our way to Daytona Bike Week on March 7th

Under the flaps in the FRONT side cowlings. You know, the "wings" that you can adjust in our out. One on each side.

I have 2 on each side under the flaps that bolt that part of the fairing to the frame . Again those are larger bolts than these, but I will look and see if there is a 3rd one (smaller) on each side.

I have nothing to add except that you were too close for the focus on your camera. Either back off a bit, or look on your camera and use the macro mode which is usually denoted by a little flower icon. That'll allow for good focus on closeup pictures.
