Upon inputing the address of the Marriott hotel in my gps , a 276C, it would only accept 500 Hill Ave. E. and the info I have received gives the address as SE.

Does anyone know if this is a problem or is that the correct address.

Thanks

Mac

Not sure the answer to your question. Did you try searching your GPS database for "lodging"? See what choices it gives you in that area?

500 Hill Ave. E is the correct location. The snafu is that the road is actually named E Hill Ave SE  If you follow your GPS to the 500 address it will take you to the one way entrance to the hotel. The other side of the entrance road is the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, you absolutely can't miss the two huge basketballs that are part of the building. The Marriott is an odd taper shape and with the big balls, err, big basketballs you have the best landmarks you can ever ask for.

Edit: I've got pictures of it someplace. So far all I can find is our pictures of the Sunsphere from the '82 Worlds Fair. The 'sphere is another place to visit in Knoxville. Ride up to the observation deck and have a look around, it is now free AFAIK.

Semi interestingly, the Knoxville Marriot (the big wedge shaped building in upper right of this satellite view) dwarfs the Women's National Basketball Hall of Shame (small erect ***** shaped building on the left with the orange basketball being ejaculated).

Perhaps the most amazing thing is that they actually charge admission to see the WBHoF.

:p

Things to do trivia -- take a look at Fred's link, then scroll down to the river, follow the long green roof until there is a gap about 200-300 feet south, there will be a short building roof. The picture shows the paddle wheel boat docked. You can take paddle wheel rides that are actually very nice.

One very funny thing about the paddle boat is that the fish in the river recognize people that work on the boat. When a cook comes out on the dock the river becomes a roiling, seething mass of HUGE catfish all along the boat. If you like to fish for catfish this sight will hurt you. Once the area is just churning with fish the cook will take his basket of leftover bread and heave it into the water. Sharks on a feeding frenzy have nothing on this sight

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. Should be able to find the motel now, you know how men hate to ask directions.
