+1 on Copper Harbor. Rick gave me some great routes after CFO in 09.
KJ, be sure to go to the Gay Bar-they love BMW riders there.

Will do! I've picked up more hot women at GB's than in straight bars. No competition, and most of the ladies say they just like the atmosphere (gotta have dancing tho).

Sounds like Copper Harbor is a must do. Thanks

Ummm, it's not THAT kinda gay bar but you might get lucky. Do you like blaze orange??

Copper Harbor itself is okay but it's the road to and from that's the real highlight :big_boss:

I'm in. Since my side kick Wheatie is not coming to this, I'll be looking to share a room.

I love Copper Harbor, Infact I love the whole Keweenaw Peninsula. When in Copper Harbor have a meal at the Harbor Haus. Not the most expensive place but not cheap either. The view from any table is spectacular.

Visit Fort Wilkens while at Copper Harbor.

Then go up Brockway Mountain Drive which at the summit will have you almost 800 feet above the lake and you can watch the freighter traffic miles out in Lake Superior.

Here is a view of Copper Harbor on the way up Brockway Mountain Drive.

Going up to Copper Harbor take US-41. Coming down off Brockway Mountain Drive take M-26 to The Jampot store.

Stop and see the firehouse museum in Calumet.

There is so much to see but you have to set aside the time to take it all in. Weekdays are best for motorcycling because the camper traffic can slow things down on weekends.

What TangoSierra said.....went to Copper Harbor in 2009. Very pretty, but the fun was damped on the way in by a box van the last good miles. Neat twisty road (41) but he's right...lots of weekend traffic. In 2009, Brockway Mountain Road was in really poor shape, but I've heard they re-paved it since. Worth the trip to the top. It was hazy the day we were there (record high that day of something like 92 degrees) but still worth it.

Most people take the counter clockwise way up and back from Copper Harbor as I described above. You can often avoid the traffic by taking the route clockwise. On the way up get off US-41 at the Phoenix Store and take M-26 up the peninsula and come back down US-41 from Copper Harbor. This way you will be going against the grain of traffic. The Harley and Gold Wing riders will slow you down as much as the campers.

There is also a scenic little traveled road that follows the southeast shore.

^ PM'd you our hop-over motel info!

Just a tad under a measly 1200mi for myself.

I chose Quality Inn; Gaylord MI (UP) $60/nite for our hop-over motel (Weds & Sun nites) which is about midway. Getting closer to (or over) high bridge (Mackinac area) was quite expensive.

See y'all there

If there's any way you can squeeze in a ride up to Copper Harbor MI to or from it would be very worth your while. If you do I can give you some great roads and sights.
Copper Harbor is a great ride. If you're not in a hurry, be sure to hit up the section of 26 between the two ends of Brockway Mountain Drive. My wife and I got married up on Brockway Mountain.

**Word of caution on M26; ride the loop easy before trying to push it too hard. There are a couple sections you can get airborne (don't ask how I know) at 80 mph that are fun, but there are two corners in particular that if you're going to fast, the road drops out and then promptly turns either sending you in the other lane, or off the road depending on which direction you're going. Not so fun.

I love screwing with people with the "gay bar". So many people are in the gutter, lol, when it's the bar in Gay, MI. I'm sure they would be happy with any business, lol.

Unless something changes this summer it's still rougher than a cob and hasn't been redone. Same old road last fall. Apparently Keeweenaw County doesn't see the advantage of having a good road for the biggest tourist attraction in the county... Granted, it does help keep traffic slower and keep people from driving off the mountain but still.

Now if I can get my time off request approved It's a short ride down for the weekend!

I signed up July 2, and the email said there would be further info on booking the hotel........ haven't heard anything.... is there a code we use at the hotel or do I just call them and say I'm with those FJR hooligans?

We can't give our secret codes to Canadians!

You know those Canadians are not to be trusted...

Thanks, guys...... will there be a Canadian flag awaiting the Canucks, or do we have to show force.......... (I see Joe is my only friend, thanks Joe!)

Aww shucks, I'll bring one. Yamafitter left his at my house last year. Just bring the FortyC!
I'm not wasting good Canadian Rye Whiskey on a New Yorker. Give your head a shake. I'll bring you some Genny Cream Ale since you are use to that swill.

By the way stop trying to muscle in on the FJR swag. You spent too much money on that Bavarian Land Barge so you should be OK spending too much money on Hans & Franz approved farkles for it.
