Well, we have the Givi trunk as well, so it's not about flying off the back. She's worried about flying straight up, into the air (like a Junior Birdman).

You know, the fact of the matter is, that if she's tense and nervous back there, I'M tense and nervous. And so to accommodate her fears, I change my riding style, like cruising in the number three freeway lane with SUVs flying by me, and trying to be super smooth with no rapid braking or acceleration, and I'm just miserable and feel unsafe. I feel safest when I ride like a nimble boxer dancing in the ring, ready to move in any direction at any second. When I ride, my speed and position are changing constantly.

I wish I could ride with someone who just dug it as much as I do and could just relax and enjoy the ride. Instead, she gets the "our kids are gonna be orphaned" mind set. So it's not good.

You know, this ride is likely to be a little different. There will be other FJRs with pillion, and most ride a bit more sedate with valuable cargo on the pillion seat. Just don't try to keep up with Mr. Smooth..... :yahoo:

Oh, jeeze, I've gone and started it again. I should feel bad.....I should, I should, I should.

You are going to have to keep your ladies away from mine. Mine figured out a more effective means at getting my undivided attention without tapping on my helmet . . .

No contact will be allowed between your wife and mine....She hasn't thought of that "method". YET.

Is this an overnight ride? If so, where is a good local motel?
Thanks
There should be motels available in Napa. That would be the closest city.

We forget to remind people of something Highlander has stated: "NorCal FJR owners are the only bunch I know who will ride 120 miles to meet others to go for an all day lunch ride."

We may be sick but we enjoy living in denial.

The more I read about slapped helmets, jabbed ribs and various fears, the luckier I feel. Keep it coming! B)

I have, on occaision heard over the intercom, "That one scared me."

Most of the time though, I hear giggling as I blow by traffic and scrape my pegs.

Trust me, she's not a live on the edge kinda person. The backrest did help a lot. Before we had it, she was neither comfortable in seating position and once her feet came off the pegs under heavy acceleration. We ordered the Top Case the next day. I guess I should feel even luckier than I already do!

Amen brother Amen!!!

AND...I never quite understood the logic of distracting the person that is control of the two wheeled vehicle you are riding on

Oh ****. I've done that.

12Handler will be on a cool FJ1200. By the way -- Don't believe his "trouble keeping up" mantra. You all will find out why . . .

The only way to stay ahead of Aaron is to run him through a pothole so he bends all his carb floats! It worked like a charm last time. :D
