Try a search on "GPS" in this forum. Lots of good ideas.
I wholeheartedly agree with the above statement.

I was fortunate enough to receive as a gift a mount from Wynpro. This excellent piece is built by a forum member and is rock solid and beautifully made. You can PM this member: 08FJR4ME

Pop uses the mount on the Heli Bar Bridge.

You can search for 'gps mount' and 'techmount'..... you will find tons of info. This subject has been discussed over and over on this and other forums so you need to do a search first. If I find my post with the photos, I will tag you the link in your post to make things easier for you. As a related subject, how do you plan to power your GPS ? You can do a search for PDM60 or power block to get more ideas.

Shelf.

In the past I have used garmin (awesome) and TomTom (suck), both mounted on ram mounts (awesome). I have a ram ball in the unused bolt hole in the left reservoir and one that came with my heli's. I don't use dedicated GPS units any more, preferring dual iPhones, running SWConnect, Apple maps, and CoPilot for backup.

A couple years ago I bought a Shad tankbag and decided to modify it with homebrew aluminum plate, pass-through 12v supply cable, and a triplet 12v distribution socket assembly hidden in one side.

Use a RAM universal tablet mount to hold my 7" tablet used for GPS navigation.

One thing I really like about this configuration, is that when I want to walk into a restaurant, or stay overnight somewhere, all I have to do is disconnect that one 12v supply cable from my accessory socket in panel D, and take the whole tankbag in with me. All electronic connections etc remain intact, AND are securely with me away from the bike.

After riding through thousands of miles in heat and rain, hasn't presented any problems.

I think the best place to mount it is between handle bars ... there the only thing it blocks is the ignition key (but still easy to reach).

FJR1300 Triple Tree Ram Ball Nut from Motorcycle Larry's web site (RIP) but they are out of stock right now. But I think it's fairly easy to drill and tap yourself for the Ram-B-236 ball? Probably the least expensive way to mount a GPS (outside of duct tape lol).

On my bike:

Actually the least expensive mount comes in the box with the Garmin Zumo. We used it on Dad's bike for years before we installed the Heli Bar Bridge. It sets the GPS high and to one side but it is quite usable.
