FYI, an aftermarket key blank directly from the locksmith will generally be made from a harder metal. This will help prevent bending and also the teeth should hold up better over time.
I'm not sure any old locksmith will be able to create a new key with just the key code. If not, and you have to get a new one from the dealer, I'd recommend taking that fresh key to a locksmith and getting a new one made with an aftermarket blank. Should only cost a few dollars.
