I was swapping the winter windshield with the stock summer windshield. After removing the 2 small allen screws that hold the W on it still didn't want to come off. I think I just left it on all last summer so it had not been removed in a couple of years, it was stuck. I had to put a some force on it to break it free, trying to be careful because I know it is fragile. Well it broke free and took both tabs where the screws go with it. So now I need a new W. Where does one find this? I know I could go to the dealer but figure I could get it cheaper on the net?

Thanks....

Just found it on motorsport.com. I think, they call it a washer, leg shield, Part # 3P6-28323-00-P8

Is this it???

On-line for $57. at boats.net. Similar at one other on-line place I checked. Also need the two screws.

What color is it? Does this one need to be painted? I have a 2010 FJR and it is liquid silver. I don't have a way to paint it and was hoping just to buy the part already painted the right color.

If you go on-line and get the parts fiche for your model and year, the parts should be painted in the appropriate color. Part number differs by year (color)

Use 2 part epoxy and glue the tabs back on, a lot cheaper than getting a new W
That's what I did sort of, I saved the nut plates and found a small plastic angle and glued it on. After it dried I marked the holes and drilled for the nut plate. What you can't see can't hurt you!

I am still riding around with one broken tab, as my first epoxy attempt didn't take perfectly. There is a bit of learning curve in epoxying plastic niggly parts. (some epoxy's stick to some plastics better, and sometimes what seems strong snaps off as soon as you tourque it.)

You need to put extra epoxy around the break like a cast so its stronger.

That W doesn't take much to hold on. I shoved mine on and rode two hundred mile and it didn't fall off.

I bought a new battery cover panel, because that top right corner tab snapped off, and I couldn't find the right mix of epoxy to hold it together. (The new part was $26 from my dealer)

I might try the fibet glass tape method on that, and my "W". But my W has had one tab snapped for 6 years now, with now problem. Semi annual screen changes.

I know one guy who broke his and now uses velcro to attach it to the windscreen. It's just a cosmetic piece anyway.
