I've been a Forum member since 2006 and am in the motorcycle publishing business (Northern Rockies Rider et al). We have an article on motorcycle insurance scheduled for our April edition (deadline March 13). We'd like an illustration to go with the story and (thankfully) I have no wreck images of my own. I know there are some notorious ones I've seen on this forum. Perhaps a generous member can supply me with such an image, the more damage the better. I recall one I've seen many times, truly scary - a blue '05 I think - that had a bad run-in with a deer which destroyed the front end. The thing is, I would need the original high-resolution image taken from the camera - 300 dpi or very large format for acceptable print reproduction. Of course the image owner will be properly credited. Maybe someone can help me out? PM me here at the forum and I'll respond with an e-mail where images can be sent. I appreciate anyone's help. Thanks!

I'm thinking that dcarver's incident with the deer. That has total anhilation written all over it. It was totaled but somehow he rode it out...I have no idea how he did that...cuz I really didn't know he was that good of a rider.

n2osx, thanks, got it and replied.

Also had another promising PM response.

I love this forum.

Wheaton, yes, I'm sure you're right - dcarver's deer encounter. That is such a dramatic and startling shot. Funny how a bag of muscle and juice and bones can cause such destruction. That he rode it out is even more incredible. Wildlife is the one thing I fear the most, and it is the greatest hazard in the northern Rockies. Knocking on wood...

I can contact the guy who's bike this is.

Can't remember who it was, but someone has a photo of a car on top of their FJR. That would be a good one.

bgross, that shot of the FZ1 would work except it is 72 dpi. It is pretty grim. I'd certainly crop out the bloody clothing.

gixxerjason, that crushed BMW is pretty dramatic, too. It is also 72 dpi when pulled from the Internet, but is 14" x 10", so by the time we reduced it enough to get dpi to 300, the image would be close to 3.5 x 2.5, just a little small. Yes, this is an example of a case of needing the original image. Sure, if I can get the original I will consider it along with other images I may receive. I would want the owner's permission and first and last name for a proper photo credit.

The article is about insurance so we don't need anything that is overly destructive.

Thanks everyone!

Give me a minute while Photobucket takes a time-out.

Unfortunately, I have several

Tom, I like these. They are 72 dpi and 14.22 x 10.67 inches. I would have to reduce to about 25 percent of original to get dpi up in that 300 range, so 3.5 x 2.67 - a little too small. Do you have the original digital images that came straight off the camera? Are these your property?

Get me your email by PM and I'll send original files tonight. the FJR wreck is only about a 4 megapixel shot, but the VTX was with the Nikon. I do a lot of pixel reduction for posting online, so I can get you well-saturated images for most work up to 8x11.

Bugnatr, your hunch was correct - 3.33 x 2.5m at 180 dpi - too small with too low-resolution.

I did wind up using some high-res images I got from TomInCA. Thanks, Tom! And thanks everyone who responded and sent me images. All the pics of wrecked FJRs kind of gives me the willies. Makes ya think...
