Okay, I'm trying to do the Barbarian Jumper, but there are no wires in pins 27 and 29 on the 2005 FJR. Do we do the 2004 modification or is there something else?

Please be sure to give us your impressions. I have an 05 and notice the leaness below 3k. Seems like an easy fix until I can scrape together money for a powercommander.

Very easy fix... and because the '05 doesn't have the wire in plug 27, I just made a short jumper... made the changes, took the jumper out and put the pins back in.

I don't notice much of a change, but I should note that my bike has always run very smooth and Smitty did a TBS for me last month.

Marc,

So the jumper does not need to be left in? And just to clarify, install the jumper between pins #27 to #29, and not from #25 to #29 for the '05. I'm debating whether to bump the setting up +5 or +7. Seems like people have been reporting good results with either.

On an '04 AND '05 you jump #25 to #29

The jumper can be left in or taken out. Any changes you make get stored in the ECU as you make the adjustments from the CO screen. The purpose of the jumper is to tell the ECU to make the CO screen available, it has nothing to do with the storing or enabling of the CO settings. Taking the jumper out only disables access to the CO screen and effects nothing else. If you feel your jumper is safely in place why not just leave it?

FWIW, my '04 was:

Cyl.......Offset

1.............0

2.............7

3.............8

4............16

Adjusting them did bad things for my FJR. My bike is an exception. The PCIII was awesome.

I just did mine (an '05). I made a jumper and left it in and will post my stock settings later for comparison.

  • HUGE increase in power at the low end. Holy cow!
  • Idle's rock-steady where before it would stutter at idle.
  • No change in perceived heat.
As long at I get more or less the same fuel efficiency, I'm very happy with the mod. Best thing I've done to the bike for a while.

The jumper wire was just a scrap that didn't fit very well. I just used it to gain access to the settings, then I pulled it out. Most likely I will never need to adjust the settings, plus if I ever have to take it in for service... the tech will never be able to tell I touched it. (One less thing for some "stupid" tech to say caused some other completely unrelated problem. You know what I mean?)

Turns out that my fuel mileage increased. I now get about 42 verses 39 just running around and 45 verses 42 pure highyway.

I did Barbarian Jumper on my '06 last weekend. Definitely helped with the low RPM surging. My original CO settings were:

01: 5

02: 18

03: 18

04: 21

I am still confused

According to these posts there are conflicting reports on which pins to jump for the 05. Is it the 25 to 29 or 27 to 29?

I have been to Warchilds site where the procedure is outlined with pictures HERE.

After reading it over and over it seems like it should be the 25 to 29 on the 04. For the 03 directions seem more complicated where you are removing the wire from 27 slot and swapping it with the plug in 25, and the mod is from the 27 wire (now 25) to 29. It seems like if you simply plug it back in makes the jump complete. I just want to know what needs to be done on the 05 since that is what i have. Thanks everyone for the input.
