I'm in the process of pricing some FJRs but haven't had much luck. The 2 dealers I spoke to (one being the dealer that sold me my Warrior) haven't been completely honest with me. One tried to sneak in an extended warranty on me and the other overpriced the bike with options WAY over MSRP. When I called him on it he said he quoted me the "top of the line model." He then quoted me some long model number and I simply said "you mean the AE." He said yes. I repeatedly told him I did not want the AE but rather I wanted a clutched bike. So I don't buy his "mistake."

I live in the Rio Grande Valley near South Padre Island and will travel for the right deal. So if you live in TX and know of a good, honest dealer who will not try and pull a fast one, and will discount, let me know.

Thanks TX riders.

Update: I found an 06 with 1800 miles for 11895. Decent price or not?

I got a very good deal from Motion Cycle Sports in Dallas but some people have had mixed results there. I now trade with Stadium Yamaha in Irving. They're very nice folks.

I purchased my '07 from Richardson Motorsports in Richardson, a Dallas suburb. They were very fair and the salesman was knowledgeable on the bike. I went to other dealers and some of the salesguys didn't know squat about the bike, one didn't even know it had antilock brakes. I was surprised when he offered me the opportunity for a test ride. I was out the door with the bike, a $600.00 helmet, Lojack, and the tire warranty for $14800.00. So far I am very pleased. Picked up a nail the third day I had the bike, showed up at the service dept, and they had me back on the road in less than two hours with a new tire. The tire warranty paid for itself in less than a week of buying it. Their phone number is 972-231-4833. My salesman was David Barnett, and he is also the sales manager. Very straight guy, they had to order my helmet for me and he let me take a different one out as a loaner until mine came in.

I haven't seen Tony O on here lately but he is the dealer in Texarkana, Yamaha Powersports I believe. He was in the same ballpark as D & H.

I'll second the recommendation for TonyO in Texarkana. That is where I purchased my '06. He's a straight shooter with quality service and aggressive pricing. He posted pricing for the '07 models last year; I recall the A model was $12.3K + TTL. Figure $13.4K OTD for a Texas resident, sans any accesories or YES warranty.

I also bought my '06 from Tony at Yamaha Sportscenter in Texarkana. He was honest and easy to talk to. Took the MSRP price and reduced it $1500 and then did TT&L. My '06 was $12,904.65. Best price I know of in Texas. The dealers in Dallas will not even try to match or come close to Tony's price. I know because I tried. So Tony will get all my Yamaha business.

I'm another happy purchaser from Tony. The wife and I drove out to Texarkana Friday night and I rode the bike back to (near) Dallas on Saturday. Tony was nice about answering pre-purchase questions via email, and then personally spent probably 30 minutes with me going over the bike in detail. Don't know if he does that for everyone, but I really appreciated it.

They are hard to find in Houston. Therefore I don't think the dealers are willing to deal.

I paid full sticker for mine at Houston Yamaha because I am an impatient sucker.

By the way, there service department sucks.

I got mine from Tony as well... he's very supportive of the FJR community, and they are a quality organization to deal with. I have never come across a post that has said anything about his dealership that isn't positive. He's got D&H type prices and is a fair amount closer.

Try Action Sports in College Station

https://actionsportstx.com/

Talk with Angela and tell her Shane Stump recommended them!

I purchased my 2006 FJR1300AE for $13,200 + TTL.

They were real easy to deal with and NO SURPRISES.

They have had a 2007 A model on the floor for a while (I haven't been there in a couple of weeks so I don't know if it is still there). If I had to guess, I am willing to bet they will beat any legitimate deal in Texas.

Best Regards,

Shane

I live in CC TX bought mine from D&H in AL if I buy again I will buy from Tony because of his support for this forum and postive words spoken about him and he was close on price-nothing negative about D&H though they were great to deal with. The forum support Tony gives is something to consider in a purchase.

Thanks for the input all. Ok, here's what I got so far. I bought my Warrior in Kerrville - Destination Cycle Sports - about 45 minutes West of SA on I 10. Mind you that SA is about 5 hours North of me. I called them and they're willing to go about 13400 out the door. That includes a Givi V46 trunk installed. I was also talking to Alamo Cycle Plex in SA as well. I got a bit of a run a round on the OTD price because my bike wasn't in front of them and they needed it to give me a price. Well, my pics of my Warrior are on the Warrior forum, which they guys at Kerrville went to to give me a price. I then called Alamo Cycle Plex to tell them not to run my credit app since I worked out a deal with another dealership. I spoke to the sales manager, rather then the salesman who gave me the run a round. The sales manager is giving me an OTD price of 13239, also with the Givi. The only worry I have is that they won't commit to that price until they see the bike and check it out. The bike is perfect and since spending about 15 grand on customizing it. I'm just concerned they might try and raise their OTD price on me once I get there. I wouldn't mind going to Texarkana, but it's a bit far for me and may not be a financially sound move considering gas, meals, and lodging.

wasnt D&H $11,500??

plus you would get more money selling the bike on your own (maybe)

I'm in San Antonio:

Bought my bike from Destination. They would not respond to my failed front brake master cylinder problem. They never sent me notification of the recall on the instrument panel. But they are more than happy to send me propoganda every couple of months. My sidebag lock cylinder screws had not been tightened with locktite and nearly lost the rh side bag due to this.

Alamo cycle plex is a big time volume dealer. I have never seen an FJR on their floor but I know they have a knowledgeable service group. Knowledge must however be limited if they have no FJR's in their line-up.

Yamaha of San Antonio has been the most responsive to my needs. The salesperson named Robert is a straight-up dealer who also rides an FJR. Their service group had problems replacing my instrument cluster under warranty, but they did address my front master cylinder failure issues (when Mamma called them to tell them to do it). Their set-up should be good but I can't vouch for them. Just call Robert and tell him you got a reference from the forum. If you want me to call him ahead of time you can PM me and I will be happy to.

And, I need tires after 10K miles and want a nice ride so I'm heading to Kerville to ride the hill country. Destination says they'll do my tire change within 2 hours if I arrive by 9am. (I'll be there around 8am for sure). If you message me before 6am Saturday I will be glad to put a bug in their ear about the Forum, an FJR Rider's weight in the buying process, and I can ask them any face-to-face questions you may want me to ask on your behalf.

I'll also reaffirm that Tony O in Texarkana is the best in the State. Definitely worth the trip- and he gave a great price.

:clapping: I whole heartedly recommend Yamaha Powersports in Texarkana. The owner is Tony O., and I had his organization work on my '05 FJR as I passed through on a trip and was so impressed with him and his organization that I bought my '06 from him and had his guys put on a bunch of farkles.

I have ridden with Tony and his wife on our first SFO get together and you can't find a straighter shooter.

I am traveling over 200 miles to have Tony and his mechanics prepare my '06 for another 5,000 mile trip that I will be taking in June.

I just started about a month ago at North Texas Yamaha in Lewisville (there has been a complete personnel turnover in the store) - we have an 06 AE on the floor that we will agressively deal on - just built an 07 Tuesday and I'm not expecting it to last more than a couple of weeks at best - sold the two 07's we had when I got here within 2 weeks (it helps when you ride one and can talk intelligently to someone). If you are looking for a D&H type deal we can't do that but I will work with you as best I can. Most dealers ordered based on prior year experience which unfortunately was the PDP program so not many had any idea what to expect when they were given the opportunity to stock them. As a result most had limited stock and a fairly strong intial demand so they were able to get close to MSRP. The result is that alot of dealers have spaced out their orders which has also limited their availability. Feel free to PM me and I can give you my number. I've also dealt with Tony for a number of years and would highly recomend him - it won't affect my ability to sell the Feejer on the floor as there will be sombody in the metroplex looking for one. It really helps when I park the 05 outside and prospective buyers can see what you can do with one.
