need selling advice for a ONE owner 2004 FJR 1300 ABS

i took delivery in Chicago on 9/18/03 and the bike has lived in Chicago, LA and Phoenix. i currently have 4 FJR 1300's and probably only "need" 3. so i am considering selling my first one, the 2004. i don't need the money and the bike has performed perfectly and provided me with MANY great memories. But it's just sitting there, on a battery tender being ridden maybe once per year.

here's the deal. i keep the bike 5 minutes from phoenix sky harbor airport at a self storage facility that my buddy manages. i fly out, ride ALL over the southwest and fly home.

if i decide to sell it, the question is where to sell it FROM ? i was thinking (an adventure ! ) of flying to phoenix and riding the bike to sante fe to visit my father. then i would ride to mead colorado (outside boulder) which is where my mother and sister live. i could leave it there at my sisters for the potential buyer to pick up. Or i can continue home to chicago and sell it from there.

or i could leave it in phoenix for the potential buyer to pick up from there.

so, my question is: where is the best location for a potential buyer to take delivery of a very nice FJR , phoenix, boulder colorado OR chicago?

the bike is close to MINT, has BIG Givi trunk, very new tires, heated grips and Cee Baileys tall windshield with 21,500 miles and i assume that the bike is worth $5,000. - $5,500.

it's never been crashed or even fallen over. i have pics of the few scratches and rubs on the body work.

thanks for any input.

pics soon as i remember how..

"... I currently have 4 FJR 1300's and probably only "need" 3....."

Ironically, I currently have 1 and NEED 3 or 4! :)

Obviously, you will want to sell it south of Chicago, or wait another 3-4 months. I would think your best market would be L.A., but perhaps only marginally so and considering the cost to re-locate the bike, you might just come out behind (except for the enjoyment of the adventure, of course).

Good luck.

You've opened a wide door to potential buyers by giving them options!

Let the buyer pick.

:)

Hmmm....

I know this rider from the Phoenix area that always has one too many FJRs. I am thinking he could steer you the right direction!

... He is also a pushover with the 04s, so he should be along shortly.

I think your price is good. That should move once the buying prospect is hooked up with seller. I would just advertise it's location and suggest delivery is possible in New Mexico, Colorado, California or Chicago area, then negotiate that with a buyer.

Haaaaaaaaaaa.. chicago has two "warm" days this week and i get bike fever. might of jumped the gun since it's only begin of march but i am READY to ride.. oh well..

Very nice bike at a very good price. Is that a custom seat? It doesn't look stock.
Dave

good question. the seat IS stock. i sometimes use the strap on Pro Pad seat cushion.

price looks right. DO NOT take it to Santa Fe and let your sister sell it, way too many flakey people in that neck of Nuevo Mexico and the big item, does your sister

know anything about motorcycles ?????????? If you have a friend in Phoenix I would say let him try.

no actually, i will "sell it".. i will coordinate the whole sale, but if i don't bring the bike back to chicago, it's possible that i will not be present when the buyer picks up the bike.

my question is: where is the demand greatest TO SELL a 2004 FJR? AZ, CO or chicago. THAT is my question..

thanks..

Seems to me that PHX is ideal.

A 400-500 mile radius of potential buyers - who can do a fly & ride nearly any time - gives you a pool of millions.

Yeah, I'm speaking from personal experience as a winter fly & rider. I left SoCal for PHX in the morning, the seller picked me up at the airport, we went to the bank, and I rode home - was back at sunset.

Best of success with the sale.

I will chat with a friend of mine here in ATL. PHX would be a heck of a drive for a pickup 1800miles back to home. Chicago would be better at 708 miles. Let me ask first. If he is interested I will send a PM.

thanks to everyone for your input. i forgot to tell my chi town buddies that one of my bikes might be for sale. one of them says that intends to purchase it. thanks!

I'm interested. I have a buddy who lives in Scottsdale during the winter and Denver during the summer. We are going to take a bike trip this June and I'm thinking about picking up another FJR for the trip ( I've owned an 06') and I regret selling it.

I live in NC but I could have my friend look at your bike and give me a report although I'm sure your bike is just as it seems....an excellent machine.

Bottom line.....are you willing to come down a bit on the price? I only ask because there are 07's for sale around the same price point as yours. If you could deliver the bike to Denver we could possibly do a deal. You can PM me or email me at [email protected]

Thanks!
