I have searched and can not find any info on the NEP throttle lock on the forum. Can somebody tell me what model I need to buy and point me in the direction of installation instructions?

Thanks

John

I know there's a link on the forum to FJRTech, but here'a a link to the VistaCruise install that should help you. I have the NEP throttle lock on mi bike but I don't remember the model number (one forgets after 3 years or so.).

Here's another interesting site for modifications and maintenance. (Bounce's, "bikes-n-spikes")

Personally, I'd recommend saving both sites to your "favorites" and refer to them often. They'll be of great help.

I tried to install the NEP CC3 to my '07 this weekend and could not get it to work.

The link Fred provided looks like it is on the C14, not an FJR. The throttle cable assembly on the FJR prevents you from securely attaching the NEP's base. I tried to zip tie it, but some binding occured in the released position.

I would not recommend this part for the 07 models. I may have to try the Throttlemei$ter$.

Both the NEP and the Vista Cruise throttle locks have to be modified to work with the FJR. You have to remove the tab and pin the base with a small screw or similar arrangement. There are a bunch of posts on those operations.

Personally, I use a threaded metric ball post screwed into the throttle housing. Then I drill a mating hole in the throttle lock and snap it over the ball head. Works great!

The challenge/modification required was the same using a NEP on the 2005, and a Vista Cruise on my 2007.

Thanks everyone. I went with the Cam-Lock by Madco. I will let you know how it works out.
Johnny, I have had the MadCo lock on for about a year and no problems. It is a little pricey but the quality is above the the NEP system. I installed it the same time I installed the G-2 throttle tube, great setup. Good luck. PM. <>< ;)

Painman I fully agree. The Madco Cam-Lock Sport was worth every penny. The parts were first class. I took off the grip and slid on the Madco and reinstalled the grip. Madco even sends grip glue. Bill at Madco even put the part in the mail on my honor that the check was going in the mail. Bill is a first class guy and his product is first class too. And I did not have to drill anything!

Beautiful!

If you are looking for an alternative, the Breakaway Throttle Lock is a piece of engineering art as well as highly functional. I've had one on a Kawa cruiser as well as my FJR and swear by it. Again, a little pricey but it last forever and is extremely adjustable.

Gunny, +1 or whatever. Mine has worked great but it is very pricey!
