About a week ago I started the search.... looked at a couple of 2008's online and then ended up just for grins called the local dealer to see if they would work a deal. They offered a favorable price on the 2012 and a reasonable price taking my 2007 FZ6 on trade. So after some actually pleasant conversations we made a deal and I picked it up on Thursday.

First impressions: BIG SMILE.... it is pretty ....it is quick .... it corners by just thinking about it .... and it is comfy. ( I have put 350 miles on it so far)

I am in the midst of putting the 600 break in miles so that I can have the first service done ......SO that I can leave for the mountains of north Georgia / Tennessee and North Carolina for a 5 day jaunt.

I have learned a lot reading here and looking forward to learning more and becoming one with my new bike.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Lucky you!

Colour looks great especially with the ocean as a back drop.

Have fun.

Best regards

Surly

Sweet! I, too, worked a decent deal with my local dealer, including a decent trade for my 2007 XT225. I'll be back in town Tuesday and do the deal Wednesday. I can't wait to put some miles on that bike!

Great looking bike. Looks just like my '06. If you are going to continue to park it on the soft sand better get yourseld a winpro bigfoot and a side stand plate just to be safe and get some frame sliders on there pronto.

Joe

Awesome!!

Another Florida rider to add to my list. Now we just gotta put together some group rides up in the Ocala National Forest so you can meet the rest of us crazy's.

You can not see it in the picture ....but the sideband is on a fairly decent rock (in the sand) -- trust me I was being careful. I have lived & motorcycled in FL for 26 years and do not want "that" badge of change to my account

Sliders are ordered .... thanks for noticing though :)

there appear to be a few FJR's in our fair state.... I am still getting used to spotting them from the front.... I definitely saw 5-6 of them yesterday on my way to the beach. Of course with Leesburg bikefest in full swing there were LOTS of bikes in the area.

Way to go! I agreee that is the best blue since '06.

Enjoy your new ride. Though all motorcycles are fun, the FJR is the one I chose to carry me. It is a fabulous bike. But, you already know that now don't you?

Uh-Oh.

Now you've gone and done it. You got on Screwball's list. Warning: joining up with him and his buds will result in worn out tires and ground up footpegs. (just kidding) Riders have complained of stomach aches after leaving restaurants from too much laughter and good clean fun... (not kidding). I just got back from a lengthy ride with Screwball and Pilot2wheels (both forum members) up to the Leesburg Bikefest yesterday. We had a blast.

Congrats on your purchase. What kinda deal did ya end up getting? Oh, and I love the color. Looks just like my Blue 05. However, it is an inferior Gen 2 machine. Sorry bout that. The only way to get a superior Gen 1 is to get one used. The only Gen 1's available on the planet are already owned by someone else. You know what they say... Ya win a few and ya lose a few. :p

Keep us posted on the reason you've been smilin' so much lately.

Now, now, Gary. It was just yesterday that you were drooling over my Gen II and some of the features it has that your Gen I does not. ;)

Dave

MIKE BIKE...

Don't listen to that quack, I was drooling over all those cool farkles he's got on that thing; not to mention the ones he's planning. And I can't help it that I drool sometimes, it's ah, ah, allergies. Besides, I need a lighter weight Gen 1 to haul all my extra blub.

So-- if ya ever quit riding that new FJR long enough to get online, maybe you could answer all our questions and fill us in on how ya like it.

Also, you mentioned the footpeg sinking in the sand. Here's the cure: CLICKY

I have to deal with this all the time as many folks I know have nothing but sand for a driveway.

As to the deal $14,500 and a good separately negotiated price on the the trade of my FZ6---

As to the smile-- I now have put 430 miles on it so the smile should be self explanatory for those who own one..... I love the handling and the way the bike protects the rider from wind.... after going to the beach and the long way home I had logged 200 or so yesterday and did not feel fatigued in the least.

By next the end of next weekend I should be ready for the 600 mile service and then the 9th of May I will head up to Toccoa Ga .... from there I will hit the normal stuff like the Cherohala Skyway and such on the way to Harriman Tennessee.... then back the next day to Toccoa via some of the stiff like the Dragon and Hellbender. On the next day my Toccoa friend and I will ride some favorites in GA/SC/NC ......then home on Sunday

I look forward to meeting some of you in the future
