Ok I know this topic has been talked to death but I need a new battery and I want to know which one I should buy.

Incidentally, how long should a battery last? I,ve ridden 4 years now on my 08 and the battery seems fine. I,ve kept it on a tender the whole time and would hope to get several more seasons out of it. Any thoughts on how long it should last?

My 2007, bought July 2007 still has the OEM battery in it. It never saw a tender until late last year when I was taking lots of short rides on it and noticed that some starts were getting hard. I think the short trips were too short to charge up the battery, so I put it on the tender. No problems yet.

Watch...NOW I'm gonna start having problems. Big mouth.

I think it depends on a lot of factors, how often do you ride, are your trips long or short, what kind of temperature extremes do you see? etc.

I'd expect that with a battery tender you will see more usable life out of the battery, similar to someone who takes long-ish rides often. The people who will have the most problems will be the ones who ride ~50 miles a few times a year (what a waste of an FJR that would be)
