Well, i put a down payment on a new ride today and should finish the deal on Monday. Unfortunately, for forum purposes anyway, it is not an FJR. After lots of looking and sitting and some riding, i decided to go with the Concours 14. i got a pretty good deal on an '08 with about 8500 miles. i will try to keep posting with in the 30 day limit, providing they dont kick me out ;) , to keep my membership current. i do want to comment on the thorougness of the forum. i will say that as of now, the Connie forum i have found is not even close, imho. Anyway, thanks again for the help!!! :clapping:

No need to leave this forum. Most of us are all motorcyclists first, FJR owners 2nd or 3rd.

You DO realize we will give you grief for your choice (not that we're snobs, only that we ride the best and we know it ;) ) but it will be good natured, for the most part. You chould still be able to meet other local riders through this forum and join group rides. In NorCal there are no "FJR specific" rides, all are welcome to join in our fun.

There are no 'bad" sport-touring machines, only different approaches to the genre. I don't know how much technical help anyone here can be for the Connie, but general information and friendships: Priceless! :D

Congratulations on your new purchase! :yahoo:

Congratulations on the new scoot. I looked at and rode the C14 before buying my FJR. For me it came down to two things I did not like the looks of the one large muffler, I like technology but the KPass just scared me on a motorcycle. Plus you still had a key, if you're going to go that route just go all the way. Good luck with the new bike and let us know what you think of it, I agree with MadMike2 we're all motorcycle riders.

Has anyone discussed the heat issues with the 08's with you? Especialy being from florida.

Good luck,

Me thinks you will be back,

Dave

Only 5 posts and you're already with the enemy??!?!?! Begone, traitor!!!! :assassin:

I kid. Sorta. Mostly.

Things about the Connie that scare me are reports of dead keypass systems, warped rotors, relatively inacessible maintenance items (spark plugs, oil filter, etc.) and heat on the rider. Things I just flat don't like are the low mirrors which show you your side cases, and it's fugly. :D

But it's a bike, and it's newer tech than the 1937 stuff used on the 'Murrican bikes, so enjoy! And you don't have to leave just because you're a traitor. I mean, look at the folks we keep around here, like Bust, Patriot, and some others. Even me!

I live just over here in Mims, stop on over some day!

No grief, well maybe some, but that's a good buy IMO. When I was bike shipping that eventually led to my FJR, the "Big 3" in the finals were FJR, C14, and K13GT. K13 was my favorite at the onset but was ruled out due to no close dealer and the price. With the C14/FJR, I really could've gone either way, but I do have a Suzuki/Yam dealer near me (Titusville), but the closest Kaw dealer is ~30 miles, so that's what I ended up with.

Congrats and safe riding!

You guys all have a lot of nerve. Poor guy has the stones to fess up that he didn't buy an FJR but instead of welcoming him into the ST community you all have to try and harsh his mellow with his new scoot. <_<

So an '08 Connie huh? Congrats! Isn't that the year they came in that greenish-grey gay color and not any of the manly colors like the FJRs ? ;)

Hmmmm....I guess we all have different levels of reading comprehension and understanding.

Did you say, "Harsh his mellow?" Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha...

Personally, I have nothing against the Connies. Their riders are usually pretty considerate when I am passing them!
