I just received my large Calsci windshield. That thing is about 3-4" taller than my stock shield. I rode it and it is extremely still behind the screen by only raising it slightly. My question is about the integrity of the windshield mechanism itself. It seems as though the windshield is huge when extended all the way up. Will the bracket support all of the extra pressure? Does the taller windshield make the bike any less stable at speeds over 100. What is the preffered height when cruising? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, T. I forgot to tell you it is an 05'

Get ready for the onslaught of repetitiveness. Asked and answered two or three times since I've been on this board with a variety of differing opinions.

I think you'll find broad concensus nobody has had or know of a specific failure at speed. And most tend to not leave the windshield in the full up position at speeds in excess of a buck because they'd rather be more aerodynamic at that speed.

Beyond that you're likely to get a wide variety of opinions given person size, personal preference, height and width of windshields, etc.

I've had oversized windshields on mine since '04 without any problems.

Last year I got a CalSci but I only use it in the Winter. Its a great 'shield, absolutely calm behind it (I can ride without earplugs) but, for me, it doesn't flow enough air in the Summer and I roast, so I switch to my CeeBailey in the hot weather.

BTW, I have Skyway's windshield spacers on my bike.

I really like my large Calsci at eye level doing interstate speeds. 11,000 miles so far and no problems. Recently added Skyway spacers, which help. In FL, during hot weather and slower speeds, I switch to the stock windshield for more air movement. I can't stand the stock windshield turbulence at interstate speeds.

You can't switch to your CeeBailey because I have it and I haven't tried it yet :p

Ray, you have the "flip" with you. I had the tinted standard contour on the bike--now the CalSci is on it (I recently let a local rider try it on his bike to see if it was what he was looking for.). It's good to be "windshield excessive"!
