Does anyone know if it is possiable to get a refund on the NATO meet money. I did see the post about no refunds, but I'm hoping that a accident may the exception. If not can I give my fee towards someone else.

Same old story, going down the road when some ******* turns left. He didn,t have his signal on and didn't even slow down. I had no clue he was turning. I turns out the kid was turning full speed down a dirt drive like a nut. When he hit me was going 45 mph. He had to turn into my lane just to make the turn at that speed. All I saw was the middle of the hood.

Please be careful out there.

I now think the Honda airbag is a graet idea!!!!!!!!

IIRC, it was stated unequivocally.....NO!And while you make an excellent case, posting it in public rather than sending a PM to "El Jeffe" (TWN, Rally-master extraordinaire and all-around good guy) may not have been in the best of taste. Now he is in public focus with many watching to see what he will do. From my point of view, it appears you have placed him in a "lose-lose" situation.

BAD news! I hope YOU are alright, though the bike is probably mortally wounded and will need to be put out of its misery. I hope they throw the book at the kid....but probably not (Likely a slap on the wrist and he won't even miss dessert!).

Hey, the bright side is that you are alive to tell about it!

I started reading posts after I had sent mine. Yes I should have read earlier. If you can just take my post off the board.

Yes my baby has pasted on to biker heaven.

Wow, sounds like a miracle that you are even able to tell that story.

Injuries?

Gear?

Details? (Like, what part of the lane you were running in?) And what may have contributed to you not being seen? Straight or curvy road? This thing sounded totally unavoidable. That's some scary **** right there....

glad you are ok.
Didn't you just have the suspension re-done?
Yes rebuild shock just installed. Also I had the tick fixed, new tires, new timing chain. The bike was runing great. I have new tires on the shelf for Nato, new disks and brakes front and back that I was going to install for the trip out west. If I ever get out of the hosiptal I should have a lots parts posted from the seat back.

It was the sunny not a cloud in the sky, straight road, quite county road along a river. Do you know the feeling as a car is right next to you as it is passing head on,you can relax and look at the next car coming? I was at that point when I heard myself said WHAT TH BANG! The site of the hood, the thud. I'm gooding straight up in a slow forword roll looking at the legs in a unnatural roll. I blacked out on the way up about three feet in the air.

Knee rebuilt, all ribs execpt top right, collapsed lung , broken hand, broken toes, pelvis broken into seven peices, cracked back, balls the size of a basket and jet black, and the last coulpe of brain cells seem to be missing.

Thank god I had my Icon jacket on (now in ten strips) and my Arai helmet. I am sure I landed flat on the front of my body from all the black and blue. The bottom of the helmet saved my jaw, and the face of helmet must of bounced off the ground cracking my back, but the back protector of the jacket stopped the helmet from going completely back. I only cracked the back. I AM WALKING :yahoo:

Miracle I think so.

Good grief, Ed! That's a damn bad tale to tell! It sounds like you are a very lucky man. (To still be here, that is.)

Oh, and it's NAFO, dammit. NATO is a world-political thing. If your nads weren't already the size of a Frigidaire, that'd get you a jimmy-kick.

Now, back to business; Get busy healing. I'm sorry you are going to have to miss NAFO, but perhaps you will be in shape enough to come back to EOM. Even if you have to ride a cage. We've got bull to shoot.

Sheesh, that coulda been a lot worse.

Glad you are OK and able to WALK!

There has to be a way to make the left turn ***** go through as much pain and trauma as you are...wishful thinking.

Get well as fast as you can

We'll hook up again, I rode with you at the last EMO and hope to this year. Five more weeks and I can stand on my left leg. This sucks being in a bed and a wheel chair. I think I can take on anybody in wheelchair right now, I do wish I had a couple more horses to help. Five weeks I stand, eight weeks I run, ten weeks I kick ***. I did get one hell of second chance and I'll taking all of it. When you see me everybody will be saying I'm full of **** that I never had an accident. Thanks

Get better soon. And everyone be careful, not that there is one thing that Ed could have done differently in this case.

Damn Ed, that was a Scab-like crash... plenty of people have died from left-turner's. Even though I've hit a deer, left-turner's are my biggest worry. I think I would've also gotten nailed... no signal, didn't slow down and may not have even looked to the left until it was too late. It sounds like he almost missed the turn, butt-wipe.

Owwwwwww....

Damn man, sorry to hear about the incident. Hope you get to sue the **** outta the kid. Maybe his parents have some money and you can get something for the damages.

Not like money will take away weeks of pain....

Heal up, you will ride again. I just saw a picture the other day on Killboy of a guy on a busa with 1 leg!

I've only owned my FJR for about a month (only 700 wonderful miles). After reading about your misfortune it makes me wonder if I made the right decision to get back into riding. Not a lot of pause, but your story does remind me to be vigilant, thanks for that.

There's no doubt about how much this sucks, I can't even comprehend that much pain. Its too bad your bike, or a part of it didn't continue through his windshield and hurt him as badly as he hurt you. Not a nice thing to say but WTF.

All things considered sounds like your in great spirits. Hopefully your recovery will be quick and complete and you'll be riding your new Gen III in no time.

If you don't mind let us know how things go with insurance, court etc. It would be nice to hear that you get what you need to get back on your feet and there might possibly be some justice.

Good luck, feel better.
