D&H Cycles in Cullman, AL has historically maintained the best pricing since the FJR first hit our shores. Enough of a savings to make it worthwhile for a fly-and-ride. They recently changed hands as the original owner retired but it's definitely worth a call.
When I bought my 2003 (in 2002) my local dealer was the same way. I showed him D&H's prices and told him I'd bump it by how much my travel expenses would be to go get it. The pesky little sales monkey closed his binder, pushed it back from where he had it, slid his chair back a little, and said, "knock yourself out".
So I did. Rode the area for a bit then home the next day (1 day trip back to DFW @ about 10 hours of travel time + overhead of potty breaks).
First service, I took it to them (because their svc center was good). I was picking it up and that sales monkey inserted himself in front of me as I headed to the parts/svc counter.
him (with his back to the 2 guys at the parts counter): "Hey! That's one of 'our' FJRs, isn't it?"
me: "Nope. I gave you first shot but you didn't want my money. Something about losing my $500+ (over dealer cost) while chasing the $2500 that never happened."
him: [crickets]
them: [Smiling like Cheshire Cats while trying not to LOL behind his back.]
