Folks,

Just wanted to say Hi from a new FJR owner located just outside Memphis, TN in the metropolis of Olive Branch, MS. I've ridden dirt bikes for years and years, bought a 2004 Kawa Vulcan 1600 Classic (big cruiser) in April last year and have 11k miles on it. Even took that big girl over to Deals Gap back in April of this year to run the Dragon.

Weel, my son works at a Yama/Kawa shop in the area and I went to see him at work last Tuesday. They had a brand new FJR on the showroom floor and I fell in love. After a quick 15 mile test drive (ODO had 0 miles when I rolled it out, ahhhhh) I said, "I'll take it!". That poor Vulcan has been relegated to the corner of the garage.

Put 300 miles on it yesterday riding with my son (him on the Vulcan), that FJR is a ball. So I hope you guys will welcome a new true blue enthusiast to your forum. I've been lurking for a couple of days and looks like this is the place for the FJR hookup.

Welcome and you won't find a better place to pull up a bench!

My previous bike was a Nomad and the comparison is night and day.

Welcome OB and congrats. Am familiar with Olive Branch. Give us a holler if ya pass thru middle TN. :bike:

By the way does your son work at the shop that is, or used to be, on Goodman Rd?

Welcome! i just came over from a Goldwing. Love the FJR too. This post will probably be moved to the new member intro section so don't freak if you can't find it. You're going to love the feej.

Welcome, Bob. My first and only cruiser was a 2000 Vulcan 1500 Classic FI which I sold 18 months ago. Since then it's been sport-tourers, the latest an '06 FJR. Although I enjoyed the bike while I had it, I doubt I'll ever go back to a heavy cruiser like the Vulcan.

Anyway, enjoy your new ride !

Welcome!! This is a fantastic bike for every day and long distance use.

Make sure you check the FAQ first and use the search feature(more thane 3 characters) to find out any problems you may experience. This forum has it all. Ounce you know basics, post up your experiences and opinions

Howdy from down South MS way,

Bob,

Just picked up 06 FJR in Hattiesburg, MS couple of weeks ago. Had been riding 99 Nomad but decided it was time for my "mid life crisis" bike.

Any one going to Little Sturgis this month in MS?

Lynwood

Hello from Jackson MS! You will love the bike and spending all your free change on farkles. Stop by if you're in the area.

this may not be in correctplace.Iread quotes from previous cruiser riders.I`ve been comtemplating[salivating] on switching from my 2004 roadstar[which I truly love] to the FJR.The comments I`ve read so far lead me to believe it might happen. Any advice from anyone would be muchly appreciated.

OBFJR, congrats on the new FJR, if your ever down in the Jackson area, there a few FJR riders down here (me included) give us a heads up and we'll get together!! For the longest time there was hardly anyone on this board that was from MS, now we got a few--at this rate by January we should out number the left coast guys and stage a coup d'etat :assassin: mmorgan24 and bristcl that makes 4 now were on a roll

Welcome aboard! You may want to take a look at the eastern owners meeting coming up in September in Boone NC. Go to the main menu, select regional meets-eom. Shouldn't be too far from you. Hope to meet you there.

Hi Bob
Welcome to the FJR pilots assocation. I live just south of Hattiesburg. I have had my 05 FJR for year and half and have over 22k on it. Will be heading to Sturgis, SD on the FJR Sunday for a few days. Also have a 03 Midnight Star I bought new and have over 43k on it. The FJR is really a Frigging Joy Ride!!

No, he works at Southaven Yamaha Kawasaki on Whitworth off Hwy 51. Shop has been there a million years, great place and owners. He's worked there for three years and headed off to college.

:yahoo: Welcome aboard OBFJR,

As you have already discovered, you will love this bike. I had an '05 FJR and now am the proud owner of an '06 FJR.

This bike is meant to travel and you will find yourself planning long distance trips to those places you have always wanted to go.

Enjoy, ride safe and once again welcome to the group!

I was a hard core crusier guy, but I have to say when I took that new FJR for a test ride, I was hooked. As a sort of middle aged guy (50 in September) I thought the riding position would cause me some problems, but not at all. The seat and bar positons are great, the motor is electric smooth, the power (compared to a crusier) was neck snapping, jeez I was sold so fast it was embaressing. If you get a chance to ride one, don't miss it. You won't regret it. BTW, my plan had been to keep the Vulcan as a second ride, but after riding it the other day I was candidly quite disappointed. It is one fine bike, just not for me any more. Anyone interested in a Vulcan!?!

Welcome I am also a new owner. Did you bike come with bag locks? Do you have the 17MPG problem?
