They need to increase the speed limits on the two lanes in Iowa to around 80 mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have switched from cruiser to a new (two me) 2003 FJR; I know exactly what you mean
I am working very hard, with success at limiting the speed to under the threshold of grief, i.e. here, 25 mph over the limit is $295.00, 4 dermerrit points and brutal increase in insurance (I know this from reading, not personal experiance). Radar detectors are not legal here, so that is not an option for me.
I still "light it up" but at times and places that are chosen carefuly. It is great to be able to get past other vehicles quickly when needed. Especially if they are being badly driven or are trucks or trailers that look like they might "lose" part of a badly stowed cargo.
The bike also handles well at low speeds, there is a nice road to cruise along the Niagara River, here and it does the 30 mph thing quite nicely.
I have noticed on the highway that the bike gets looks from a number of the sport bike riders too, something I didn't expect.
The concensus for me is that it does not look like I will return to a cruiser any time soon. I always wore a full face helmet, in the past few years, I have also moved from cruiser to sport bike type "appearal", so now the bike matches the gear
My only complaint is that I wanted an FJR since my 1st demo ride on one in 2003 and waited too long to take action on it.
