I really like my Latitude and immediately replaced my first one when I hit a deer and went down. I'm just curious why your unhappy with it?

Long story you may not understand unless you're in my shoes, but I embarked on the "Goretex" strategy, and reverted back to my "Olympia 4-season" strategy. I wanted full flexibility and more venting in the heat and did not want a closet full of gear........ the Klim is a great jacket, just not my thing.

Congrats to Bob. I'm going to see if I can find another copy of this same jacket, but I seriously doubt it will be as inexpensive. There are a very few left now that they stopped making it. Why they stopped is anyone's guess.

Thanks, I'll do that. I've bought other stuff from Alex and collaborated on his Givi V46 trunk reflector mod. Hope he has a Misano left in size XL that is not displaying on his web site

Fred ~ there is a new version of the Latitude out that is $630. I just bought a "new with tags" closeout version on EBay a few weeks ago ~ they pop-up regularly but inventory is getting thin. Another great resource is AdvRider forum

Yeah, the Latitude has actually been around for a while. I think the 2015 is an update of that one. It was a heavier, more dirt worthy version of the Latitude Misano. Why they discontinued the Misano is a mystery.

Out of curiosity, what size did you go with on the Misano and how does it fit you? I'm not sure if I could go with a 2XL if that is all I can find. The fitment guide shows me as an XL.

edit - So I read through a bunch of reviews and I am convinced it has to be an XL.

Made another google search on "Klim Latitude Misano Gray XL" and got a hit on eBay for new one (last one) for $479, then noticed a little coupon code for that vendor for $20 off. So I snapped that puppy up for $459 shipped.

Fred ~ I have the Latitude Misano in XL. Fit's fine - I'm a 46-48" chest, 35-36" sleeve, 6'3" and 220. There's plenty of room for layering underneath - I can get both a thin insulating layer like Klim's Inferno and my W&S heated liner without it getting too "bunchy".

Klim's construction is fantastic . . . I got tired of dealing with rain liners / rain gear.

Klim's prices are a bit steep, but tolerable at closeout prices.

Pick up Klim's closeout Infermo Jacket/Liner or maybe the Yukon pullover and you're good to go.

Thanks Harlan for your reply. Looks like I'll be in good shape. I have plenty of base layer stuff plus the First Gear heated liner. I can't imagine not being able to keep warm with that stuff if it fits under, and I'm the same shape as you but 1" shorter.

I'm looking at this purchase as the same kind of (mistakes) experience I had with seats the first several times around, until I finally sucked it up and got a Russell, only this one is longer.

I've been trying to get by with budget riding gear for literally decades. My experience with my Dariens told me I was getting close to nirvana. I'm optimistic that the Klim stuff is the real deal and I'll be able to ditch almost all of the other stuff.

Bob, yes, Airglide, or similar Olympia mesh, now Dakar. I see other comments in the other thread of those using it as 4 season gear...... that is what I have been doing too. Essentially, you choose a direction, and go with it so I don't have to have anything else for extreme conditions, especially the heat.

Fred, the Misano XL should work for you, there is adjustability, definitely do not go 2XL. If you found one for $479, that is a good score. Closeouts took place a few months ago, I'm surprised there's any left.

Fred - I just graduated to Klim from Firstgear and Firstgear was a move up from Joe Rocket. I've always managed to "move up" by making out on great close out deals. It's taken a few years . . . but great gear is worth it.

Follow up for posterity, in case someone stumbles across this thread in the future. I received my new Latitude Misano and it is exactly what I had hoped for. The sleeves do run kind of long, which works OK for me when in an active riding posture, hopefully it works OK for Bob too.

It is too bad that Klim discontinued this model. For the kind of riding I do, mostly street and a little light off-pavement, I like the lighter weight of the Misano material with the heavier 800 denier only in the high impact areas. I guess for those looking for a similar model now you should look at the Klim Overland as that seems to be the closest thing to what these jackets were.

Fred, I don't think Klim discontinued the Latitude. They just introduced the third generation of the Latitude. The biggest change is they went from bellows lower pockets to a more flat pocket and added grey, blue, or high viz accents colors. Petey is sporting the blue third generation Latitude last fall. They look a little nicer without the pleated bellows pockets but I assume you give up useable space.

The latitude is a great jacket. I originally had the full 840D Latitude and it was a little stiff but I felt it was bullet proof and it proved it when I hit a dear going down a little North of 55 mph. I now have the Misano Latitude like yours but it isn't as warm or feel as bullet proof. Right after I ordered my replacement Latitude they came out with the third generation with the flat pockets.

I just purchase a Klim Apex over the winter for use on the FJR. I can't to wait to try it out. Come on spring!
