I purchased a 2005 ABS and was surprised to find a PCIII USB under the seat. I have downloaded the PCII program from the internet and installed on my laptop and I have the USB cable.

I want to see what map is currently in the bike. Am I correct in that all I need to do is start the bike and while bike is at idle plug the USB into the PCII and it will automatically bring up the map that is currently in use. I will then save the map to the laptop so I can look at the current map and take my time in comparing to other maps? I want to make sure that looking and saving the current map does not erase the current map from the PCIII. Please give advice.

I've not had a need to do that, so I'm not exactly sure, but I's say...yes.

Yes. With the USB cable connected, running the PC3 USB program on the laptop, click on the "get Map" button to see what's currently loaded.
