New member here. When my riding partner here in Southern California traded in his BMW LT for an '04 FJR/ABS I thought he'd gone a bit nuts. Then he let me ride his FJR. Wow!

I ride a '98 Goldwing GL1500SE and a '99 Honda ST1100, yet I'm so taken by the FJR that I'm considering selling both and buying an '06 (or '07 if I have to wait that long) FJR. I'm open to either the A or the AE model.

Since California makes it tough to import a bike with less than 7500 miles into the state, I'm seeking a CA bike. Local dealers have them in their showrooms from time to time, but they seem pretty firm on list price. (Actually, I'd rather have a lovingly, partly-farkled barely-used bike anyway...)

p.s. Don't tell the folks over at the ST Owners Forum that I'm lurking over here. :p

Ooorrrrr, follow Bluestreek's advice:

"You might give Sierra Yamaha a call. They are a little north of Reno, just inside California on hwy 70 in a small town called Chilcoot. They are very FJR friendly and were offering some really good deals on FJR's(about a $1000 off of sticker and no assy. or freight charges)and usually had a few in their showroom. IIRC they said they would pick-up a buyer at the airport and transport them back to the dealership. They also have a store in the LA area.

Sierra Yamaha 888 530-5377 or 530 283-3059"

If they have a store in the Ellay area, they could direct you there. Its sure worth the call!

Hmmmm, it seems another rider has been assimilated.

After a few phone calls to hungry FJR1300AE sales reps at several different dealerships, it seems like $13,950 bike price plus tax (CA $1150), reg ($150), freight/prep (yeah, right...$175 quickly down to $0) and doc ($45) for an out-the-door total of $15,250-ish for the $15,299 list AE is pretty easy to come by after a few minutes of phone haggling.

The '07s are a-comin' and I'd like to get an even better deal (in exchange for clearing some valuable showroom space), but I'll stop my haggling and just buy the damn thing if y'all FJR veterans think $13,950 is the best deal to be had.

p.s. the clutch recall fix would be completed before bike pick-up

In the last month the following Los Angeles area dealers had at least one 06 FJR on their showrooms...

HOLY SMOKES!!! You paid $18000 for a non ABS '05???? I thought Southbay was supposed to be good. I paid $12800 for my ABS '05 at Quincy in Lemon Grove.

You may want to search this. We survey 06 prices a few weeks ago. I bought my 06 fjr A for $12,500 OTD from Champion in Newport Beach. They had another at the time.

I assume $12,500 OTD does not include registration and CA sales tax, right?

$12,500 was the total out the door price, including everything. However, I wanted $4500 (ebay price for an 05 fz6) for my trade-in and only got $4130. So did I get $12,500 or $12,870 OTD?? In any event, it was close enough for me.

If you can wait a few months I will be in Palm Spring for the month of Jan. and will be selling mine. I have an 06-A with a few options. Head light modulator, throttle meister. cal-sci windshield, yamaha tank bag and plug-in for heated clothing. Perfect condition and always dealer serviced. I also added the matching gray stripes like the bikes overseas. The bike will probably have around 25000 miles at that time, I'm thinking it should still be worth $10,000 to $10500. I just started riding 4 years ago and get a new bike every year. I really like this bike, I think it's the best value out there for sport touring.

 Bad Typo. That's supposed to be $11799 OTD for my 2005 non-abs. I'll go to the woodshed now.
