Well..first long-ish day on the FJR 600miles in 8:21.

..one performace award 84 in 65 on I87. doH!

moving average 72mph heh.

I feel suprisingly good, and see a SS1000 in my future!

Heading to Robinsville NC from Lexington VA tomorrow..gonna be a wet one. I'll skip the BRP if it rains..too much temptation, too little traction.

:yahoo: It just gets easier each time. I did 520 miles in 7:10 a few weeks back coming from the EOM. I can't wait till my next RUN! ;)

Oh, it's going to rain alright. It will be warmer, with less rain on Wednesday, and pretty darn nice by Thursday.

ALL of you are pussies....

Brundog moved HIS FJR from one side of the garage to the other.

Got a late start, but I did a personal best on the FJR Saturday from Roseburg (Southern Oregon) to Redding CA in good time, then took ?199 or ?299 to the coast. Damn fine twisties, and passing cages on those curves was challenging. My avg speed was hurt. Then the run up on 101 was easy until it got dark. Then through the Redwood highway (man those trees are close to the road!) and back onto I 5 to Cave Junction and Grants Pass and back to Roseburg. Took 11 hours for the 625 miles mostly because of the twisties and then the dark narrow Redwood highway. Loved cruising at 80-90 on I 5 in Cali without being noticable.

Beautiful views of lakes, snow-capped mountains, nineteenth century towns, etc. The temperature ranged from 48 to 83 and back to 48 on the trip.... I HAD A BLAST :yahoo:

But the stock seat sucks ass!

Did 800 miles on a cruiser last year with a decent seat in the same time.

I just mapped out my BBG1500 with Roseburg as my turn around point. I'll be leaving from Chatsworth, CA... Should be fun.... :D

I did my first Arizona In State SS 1K Oct 1st with a time of 18 hrs 46 min covering 1074 miles. Could have been much faster but was done on secondary roads (+ twisities) with 13 stops to prove route - Nothing to it with easier route !

Good on ya FHAZE.

Thats how it's done. A 600, then maybe an 850, then the SS1K.

Or just try the SS1K on the next ride but plan a bail out if you get pooped.

Good luck!

Well the weather hasn't been cooperating down here, so I am headed home. I am going to do a 750 mile push tomorrow back to MA. (I want to return the c550 I bought at BestBuy before the 14 days return policy is up. :) )

It is a nice unit for sure..almost everything I need..I didnt think a waterproof unit would be needed, but after this trip is is a must. Zumo here I come.

Next time........ Glad you made the safe decision.

I did Deals Gap on Tues late afternoon. It was harrowing tosay the least fresh rain, tons of wet leaves and hogh winds make for a day long pucker. I have ridden it several time before, and I really wanted it to be over. Truly scary.

Wed was better and some dryness where the sun could hit. Rode the Cherohala too..not too bad..same as the Gap only faster.

Nothing like getting some speed up and then entering a corner only to find wetness and debris. It took a lot of self control to not grab a little brake. Just pick a good line and pray. :)

I met an 06 rider twice in the area, didn't get a name but said he was a member here..maybe he will post up.

Final tally:

3480miles in 6 days= 580 miles a day.

I WILL go out to the left coast..either next year or the year after.

Mass to NC to Daytona back to MA via 95n and southern CT.

Yeaterday was 16.5 hours in the saddle logging over 700 but 4-5 hrs was all TRAFFIC. Sucked.

I do love this bike.. I burned up 6 9v batteries in the Autocom.. I really need to get that hardwired.

Diablo Stradas were Awesome... I got to push them in the wet and abuse them on the slab..still look great, and very little squaring off.
