I just got back from selling my house in Wa. and met up with the guy delivering my Dads car to Or. It is a 1948 Ford coupe that He bought new and was his driver until he died 15 years ago. It sat in my garage until now and it is going to be my driver after a mild restoration. I was going to buy a new bike but this seems like a better idea. I might sell the KLR to fund some of the work.

Ray, that sounds like a great project. And what a fun car to drive!

It reminds me of a friend who has a repro parts business and restores 55-57 Chevrolets. A dentist came to see him about a '55 coupe. It was the family car, then the dentist drove it to college and dated his wife in it. THEN his brother (A Doctor) drove it to college and dated his own future wife. It had stayed in the family much as yours and was in a barn on the family farm. Just a way cool history.

Now you are doing much the same. Good on you and good luck with the restore.

I just put it in the barn while I make room in the shop. When I bring it out in the daylight, I will do the picture thing. It won't be to long. :)

If The thing is a one owner and only needs a mild restoration, You may have a Barret Auction Item there worth some serious cash.

Sentimental value aside, of course.

It is for sure one owner cause I grew up in that car and it was the first car I ever worked on. It is a complete car at this point and runs great as the current engine has about 10k on it but the rest is a little rough. I am going to make it nice but not a frame off because I intend to drive it and not make a trailer queen out of it. If it does get sold it will be up to my bride after I am gone. :)
