Looks like some similarity with the FJR.

Sidebags - plenty of space for storing your helmet...as long as it's a turtle shell.

Talk about linked brakes!!! Front brake lever, but, no rear brake pedal.

Imagine the heat getting pumped out of that baby with all of that enclosed bodywork!!!

I hope the production model is quite different from the sketches because that is one butt-ugly bike. Probably a very, very fast butt-ugly bike, but a butt-ugly bike nonetheless.

Why doesnt someone make a three cylinder tourer? Isnt a three cyl by nature a smoother engine? And I think your right about the heat issue of the fairing design.

@Fester:

Welcome back!

I would not say my 3 cylinder xs850 was smoother than my 4 cylinder xs1100. I would say that the 4 cylinder was smoother - the buzz was just a little more high frquency than the 3 cylinder - and I think the FJR deals with it pretty well compared to my old fours.

Does the Triumph Sprint ST count as a tourer?

That's what Triumph is calling the Sprint ST. A Sport Tourer in my opinion should have some luggage and I don't see any on the ST but it could be an option.

WOW…and Bravo if that really is truth! If any of you guys can pick up an old ‘04 January Cycle World edition it has full details about the ZZR-X and the real concept bike pictured in the “flesh” (I still have an old copy somewhere ) and believe me it looks much better than that silly “Etch N’ Sketch“ shown in the link above. It is one of the coolest sport touring concepts I have ever seen. Details I remember: shaft drive, hydraulic handlebars that move up and down…very very cool so you can get in a much more aggressive sport riding position if you choose to do so, an electronic instrument panel that you can change/customize like your “desktop” on your computer (very trick), integrated saddlebags & looks hot with them off, most likely will inherit the now coming monster motor from ’06 ZX-14 which Kawi claims 192 HP @ the crank and ABS (I think). This bike will absolutely blow the FJR out of the water if this is true…and I hope that is the case! Now this is where the ‘06 FJR should have been going with technology. Sadly, the ‘06 FJR is now swaying way too far on the touring side for my tastes and becoming "my father's Oldmobile". LOL. ;) Let the competition begin.

Sprint is a triple.Sprint has luggage (available).
Cycle World was not impressed. Over a grand for the luggage, and it was deemed junk.
I don't really trust any of the moto rags to make a purchase decision for me.

I was tremendously impressed with the concept bike which had some very unusual features, such as control levers that pivoted from the bar end rather than inboard. This sketch looks NOTHING like the concept bike so I don't know where they are making any connection. If Kawasaki would produce something like the concept bike, I'd be all over it.

Sprint ST was second to the Feejer for me when I was choosing - I liked the bike, and was a little entranced by the "Brit Bike" idea. My dad rode BSA's back in the 60's-early 70's, and I like the idea of keeping that tradition up.

Then I got a chance to ride one and ride my Feejer the same day.

There was nothing 'wrong' with the Sprint, but you leaned froward a little more than I was comfortable with, especially thinking over the long haul.. The Feejer just blew it away in almost every imaginable way.

When was the last time anyone trusted the judgment of a magazine to perfectly match their preferences?

[except for when it agreed with their pre-existing biases]

But then the question (I saw) wasn't, "when is someone going to build a triple tourer that meets my custom wants and needs?" It was just, "when is someone going to build a triple tourer?"

They're out there.

Uncle Fester,

A 3 cyl tourer is in the works. Triumph is making a "Goldwing Copy" out of their

Rocket III.

I have seen sketches and they look fantastic! Triumph is rumored to have clay mockups already done!

Can't wait. A 2300CC Tourer. "THE GRAND BARCO"
