Ok, this is news to me. I rode my '08 for 8K and never felt really confident on the bike. I honestly thought I might never feel comfortable in corners but how wrong was I? I think my first 8K were sort of wasted on this great bike! My OEM Metzlers were the worst tires I've ever experienced. Even my WeeStrom with stock stones were far superior. I ended up puting Michelin Pilot 2's on and it is a completely different bike! This is not just idol talk. I'm actually floored by the increase in performance, the FJ goes around corners like nobody's business.
I'm so happy with the way the bike handles now. I know there's many other tires that would act the same way. I'm not really endorsing these as much as saying how GD unhappy I am that Yamaha doesn't put a decent tire on this bike! It makes all the difference in the world.
