yes, a tuner is a great idea. The OEM's need to provide something like this or software to be installed on a laptop, where you can get readings on your bikes' performance. You should be able to adjust the ECU accordingly as well. Since 1/2 the bikers out there are geek tweeker's this would be a great marketing tool! It's coming, just not soon enough. Props to Yamaha for providing it on the 450 Thumper.

I am sure it is offered only because it's an "off road only" bike. I doubt they could ever get it passed through the EPA,on the FJR.
