6th Annual Polar Bear Ride New Years Day. We are going to have our 6th Polar Bear Ride this January 1st. We will meet at the Best Buys store (It was a K-Mart when we started this 6 years ago) at the corner of the Lloyd Expressway and Burkhardt road. Departure time is 12:30 PM so please try to arrive a little early, with a full tank of gas, so we can visit and kick a few tires before we take off. This is a fun ride, no entry fee, just a great way to get the new year off to a good start. Depending on the temperature we will ride from 1 to 3 hours, and end up at the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant on Green River Road between Highway 62 (Morgan Ave) and the Lloyd Expressway.

We have had as few as 10 or 15 bikes and as many as 40 or so.

We will ride regardless of the temperature but will not ride if the roads are slick or frozen.

Please pass the word to all your friends. Everyone is welcome...

Regards

Bob Johnson

AND, there is this ride planned in the NorCal "Gold Country".

IF I was still in Hawaii, I'd just meet the Honolulu Hogs, or the DangerousCurvesHawaii gals, we'd ride up to the North Shore, brave all the tourist traffic and do a bit of whale watching in the afternoon. Nothing quite like watching whales romp in the surf... totally awesome! The Cheesecake Factory in Honolulu for dinner...

BUT I'm in NE Texas where's it cold (Ok, cold compared to Honolulu!) ... so I'm going to have to settle for walking across the street to Bone Daddy's and watching bowl games... and having a steak... and a few beers.... and watching the Sugar bowl. My kid's in the Univ of Hawaii marching band... I have orders to watch!

HE has orders to stay out of trouble in New Orleans! <BG>

I'll probably spend the day asking my friends why I can't remember what happened the night before...and then asking them if I want to remember.

My habitual New Years day ritual consists of 3 things; 1) a little "personal time" with my wife Amy :yahoo: ; 2) playing some golf (some years its one hole, and some years we get 18 in, just depending on the temps and the "swing lube" available.....), and 3) a ride on the FJR (this takes place regardless of temp :clapping: ). What better way to start the New Year??!! Jay
